It should be noted that police were present when the protestor (sic) destroyed these recall petitions, but stated to us that there was nothing they could do about it.

Police union blackmail. How far away is the time when "preferred" businesses get faster response time from the police? Or the "wrong thinking" businesses get the above treatment? Ditto for fire protection.

The police just sent a message. We got it, loud and clear. They have chosen sides.

I hope these people learned a few things from this:

* Only leave one petition sheet out at a time. Protect the completed ones quite carefully; do not leave them where a passer-by can get to them
* Physically restrain anyone who destroys a petition and find a way to get them arrested if the local goon squad won't do the job (haul them down to the cop shop, call the media, etc.). I believe that destroying petitions is a fairly serious crime.
* These union thugs (cops included) are willing to remove your right to peaceably change the system. What options does that leave you?
