1. Americans should leave.
2. Radiation will not reach the U.S.
3. The CDC do not recommend that people take precautionary measures except for staying inside (cowering is optional).
4. US nuclear plants are safe. However, what we can learn now in Japan may make them even safer.
5. SAR teams from US will help in Japan. The US military is pitching-in.
6. Responders are being given the best equipment.
7. American citizens are mobilizing to help. You can do so on (website suchandsuch).
8. Japan and the US share many cultural bonds. This friendship is certain to bring everyone through this disaster. We have to help each other.
9. (Anecdote about a baby saved).
10. We will stand with the people of Japan.
No questions allowed. Obama walks off stage.
Complete dispassionate boilerplate.
I feel safer already!
Obama hates any public appearance that requires him to do something other than “look and act cool”. One of the things I hate most about Obama is that every time I see him, it’s a reminder that the American people are not nearly as wise as I once believed them to be.
Any conservative who said that would be ripped to shreds.
He should have been in a TV sitcom.
We should avoid nitpicking and carping. From your account it sounds like he said more or less all the right things. I didn’t see the tone or style of the address, but give him credit, he does not seem to have screwed this up as much as I expected.
BTW, as much as blacks resent whites, they resent Asians even more, to this must have stuck in his craw.
The media told us that he is just such a deep genius, so profoundly intellectual, such and utter glowing star of brilliant thought...
that we just are too lowly and stupid to comprehend his greatness.
This really is what they tried to sell us a year ago. I wonder if they are still going to stick by that story? LOL
The guy is a BOZO, a DOLT, an IDIOT, a MORON...shining brilliant intelligence...HAHAHA That is rich. LOL The guy is freakin' retarded. HAHAHA
Your done with Fox? Who do you watch MSNBC?
Rest of the world: Please GO.
I’ve actually got CNN back on
Not too bad, reporting live from Japan
Anderson Cooper, sticking to facts, beats Shep and Whorealdo and BOR
He’s more queer than Ellen. gag
No questions because Barry had to scoot. They are gassing up Air Force One for the trip to Rio. Can’t let a little thing like an earthquake and nuclear accident ruin Carnivale.
I couldn’t help myself. I turned on CNN and msnbc after the speech and they were trying as hard as they could to come up with something he said that hadn’t been said for the past 6 days. What they ended up doing was repeating themselves. hee hee
No questions because apparently the left wing media wouldn’t agree to the questions beforehand.
Same here. Almost dropped the remote, but only heard part of his first sentence.
If only, if only. The things dreams are made of.
Obama needs to be impeached, tried for treason and sent to a SuperMax for the rest of his worthless life.
That's harsh, but I'd go further and sentence him to conjugal visits from The Wookie.
It was so “unannounced” that a news photographer just happened to get a nicely framed, posed shot.
He can’t produce a long form BC!!
The CDC do not recommend that people take precautionary measures except for staying inside (cowering is optional).
Seriously, when they say it is safe, start prepping! Remember how dear leader declared a “Medical Emergency” for the flu and the US government wound up with hundreds of thousands of leftover vaccines for a flue crisis that did not materialize. I truly don’t trust what he says is safe!
That is because all he knows how to do is read off a teleprompter and vote present. OK, I will grant, he is pretty pro at picking brackets, eating ice cream and practicing golf :(
