Mitt’s backers: ‘RomneyCare’ overblown [DeMint defends Romney & his socialized medicine scheme]
The Hill ^ | March 17, 2011 | Michael O’Brien

Mitt Romney’s supporters on Capitol Hill are giving him political cover for the healthcare plan he signed into law as governor, even as his competitors for the GOP presidential nomination ramp up their attacks on “RomneyCare.”

Romney’s healthcare reform initiative in Massachusetts is viewed as one of his biggest political liabilities going into the Republican primary, due to its similarities to President Obama’s healthcare overhaul.

But leading conservatives, including supporters of Romney during his 2008 presidential run, argue that the Massachusetts plan isn’t a deal-breaker.

“One of the reasons I endorsed Romney [in 2008] is his attempts to make private health insurance available at affordable prices,” said Sen. Jim DeMint (S.C.), a GOP kingmaker.

Massachusett’s healthcare plan is a deal breaker for me. I won’t vote for him. I’ll stay home first.

I hate to say this, but I’m afraid the GOP is falling back to their old tricks of the “next in line syndrome”. They think Romney will be the most palatable, but when he’s nominated(hoefully not), the SRM will tear him and the GOP to pieces......again

I would not vote for Romney if a white dove hovered well-pleased over him.

From this article I get two messages: 1, it’s time to reexamine my assessment of Jim Demint in light of disturbing new evidence; 2, a lot of folks out there want us to bend over here comes a Republican with seniority again.

#8...

Mitt's narrative has already been written by Obie and Company and it will leave a mark.

“Attempts.”

The road to Hell is paved with good intentions, Jim.

If Romney gets nominated watch how quick the media jumps on his mormonism.

DeMint says:"make private health insurance available at affordable prices"

I'm with him this far. If the Republicans can lower health care costs without socialism and/or national bankruptcy, it would go a long way to defeating the socialist agenda for a long time.

That may be so, but I think the GOP is just in a snit and determined to close the door to anyone who is not part of their RINO class. I have a hunch that they are planning to get even with the upstart tea party types for winning in the last election.

They also have the democrats and state-run media jumping in to help make Mitt the candidate because he doesn't have a chance in hell of winning. They're not called the "stupid party" for no reason.

Mitt, alas, is a tower of jello.

He’s also a walking, talking, squawking RINO.

If he gets the nod, Obama wins - again.

Methinks just as in 2008, DeMint might be tucking in behind his projected winner early. I so very sincerely hope he is wrong again.

Senator Jim DeMint, another fatally-flawed “leader” from the land of Republican “conservative” make-believe.

His supporters on FR have been willfully ignoring his endorsement of Romney in 2008 right along. Just pretending it never happened.

But he’s making it rather difficult for them now.

You don't "lower health care costs" by pushing your own version of socialism. I'm sorry to burst your bubble.
