They actually mention on the show that about 2/3 of the time they came come to a deal with sellers.

Yeah, I've seen them turn people away when Rick or The Old Man knew they couldn't pay what the item was close to what it was worth.
I remember seeing that woman being turned away. Was it the Faberge egg, maybe? She really didn't know what she had and they clued her in.
We love the show in our house. One of these days we're going to go and see the shop in person.

Ha! Esoteric post. “Knock it off, knock it off”

I wonder who pays the experts to come in and give the low-down on items. Often the result is no pawn or sale is made.

Ground report — I was there last week. Amazingly small and dumpy place. Still trying to figure out the camera angles that make it look like there’s a “L” shape to it. None of the main characters were there. It’s also in a section filled with pawn shops. Rick’s an effin’ genius to have turned this dump into a TV show. I like the show!

Yeah, I love to watch the show, I learn something every time. It’s turned a lot of young people on to the business too - we’re getting new customers in because of this show & others like it & American Pickers.

Well what if someone walks into your shop with something so rare you can’t be sure of it’s value or it’s authenticity?

We like this show too and last Oct when we were in LV we went to the shop. The line was out the door waiting to get in and you were able to slowly file in and around the shop and out the front door. Not really able to “shop” but the merchandise was not really very appealing. Typical worn looking jewelry, pretty typical pawn shop stuff.
The only family member there was the old man, and he was sitting on a stool in the back of the shop with his eyes closed. I wasn't sure if it was a model of him or really him. Some man complained loudly, “I talked to him but he wouldn't even answer”. He was just perched up there so you could have your picture taken with him.
I didn't want a Chumley action figure (snort) so we each bought a Pawn Stars t-shirt and left.
It wasn't really the greatest thrill to go there but we did it.

I like show...How do they rip people off. They help people. People need cash they give it or buy something. They can’t pay retail or they wouldn’t make a living. Dumb comment IMO

They have no “shtick”. No one is forced to walk through the doors and sell their belongings.

I LOVE antiques. It took me a while, but my bedroom “set” is antique mahogany. They certainly don't make furniture like they used to!

This show is pure television unreality. There is nothing on TV that is less real than "reality" shows. They have one guy that comes in 2-3 times a season with completely off the wall stuff that conveniently tees up a history lesson from Rick. He's got to be on the production team. Also, Chumlee isn't that stupid. Nobody is that stupid.
To: alicewonders
Nobody in their right mind would call in an expert IN FRONT of the seller!Unless the "expert" is working with the buyer.
