Tax The Rich – Until There Aren't Any Left

They say you get less of what you tax and more of what you subsidize. The left feels there are still too many producers in this country. But it has a solution – tax them into extinction.

Increasingly, the Democrats and their stooges sound like villains from an Ayn Rand novel – Wesley Mooch or Lee Hunsacker.

Posturing at a Democratic rally in Sarasota, Florida last week, horror-writer Stephen King announced, “As a rich person (not to mention a monument to the public’s abysmal taste in 'literature’) I pay (a) 28% tax. What I want to ask you is why am I not paying 50? Why isn’t anyone in my bracket paying 50(%)?”

Perhaps that’s because Cujo-boy isn’t paying a 28% federal tax.

King has an estimated net worth of $300 million. As the author of 49 novels, which have sold over 350 million copies, royalties alone would put him in the top tax bracket of 35%, which starts at $373,650. But since his taxes are probably handled by a phalanx of accountants and lawyers, perhaps he can be forgiven for thinking that he and the rest of the “super-rich” pay a top-rate of 28%.

Nobody is stopping him from paying 50% income tax - I guarantee you the Fed Govt will accept the check. If he doesn't want to do that then throw money from a helicopter at the hordes in one of the poor cities - pretend he is “throwing obama stash” down on the less fortunate them him. I hate these libtards - they love to moan and groan about the tax rates, but NEVER do anything about it. It is a huge RAT plot to raise taxes on everyone including those that make income less the $250K annually.

I would like a tax and limit on power over others. Tax on politicians when they infringe and Cas Sunstein Complete Lives Progran adjusted for political power instead of age. I know Cas would not go for it until his civilian overlord with a gun explained the two options1

Yes, they'll take every deduction, use every loophole and "forget" to report income, like Charlie (why isn't he in jail) Rangel, to keep from paying the higher taxes.

I live in Maine, and the top state income tax rate here is 8.5%. Stephen King is obviously in this tax bracket.

I knew the guy was loaded, but $300 million? Whew.

His liberal leanings rub me the wrong way, but he and his wife have donated big bucks to the Bangor Public Library and other charities, so he has a few good attributes. I just wish he’d keep his left wing crap to himself.

Taxing the rich is just a distraction to soften up the middle class for higher taxes, usually regressive ones. It brings in little revenue in most cases. Clinton used it to increase the gas tax and tax on SS benefits.
