Sure go ahead and award them all with the “Golden Flee Award” in honor of the late Senator Proxmire.

Now watch the Democrats repay this decision with future treachery.

“may begin to heal wounds between the two parties”

“Heal wounds”? What is this, marriage counseling? A post-9/11 vigil? People want the parties to be at eachothers throats. Anyone who says otherwise is stupidly naive or deliberately making a play for one side or another to let their guard down.

During the Democrats' hiatus from the Senate, Republicans applied every pressure they could think of to bring them back. They withheld their paychecks, fined the Democrats $100 each for missing a session day and put Republican senators in charge of Democratic staff.

Those fines will not be collected and the other measures will not be carried out, Fitzgerald said.

(snip)

Fitzgerald said he'd received assurances from Democrats that they would participate in future session days, relieving his fears they would again leave the state to prevent passage of the state budget later this year.

The stupid party lives up to its reputation again.

The Democrats will turn this against the Republicans, you wait and see.

They'll say that "the Republicans agreed that we did nothing wrong, were within our rights to walk out, and that in fact we should have walked out."

That's the most outrageous line of pap I can think of, but the imagination of leftists when it comes to spewing outrageous whoppers is way out of my league.

Nancy Pelosi claimed, earlier this very day, that "Democrats have long been fighting for fiscal responsibility." This after sending the deficit into the stratosphere, and not even producing a budget for 2010.

This is the sort of outlandish, Goebbels-esque, lying I expect in Wisconsin. We're talking L. Ron Hubbard territory here.

Why?

My gut tells me that “Hey, come on its Wisconsin”. But why cave? The only thing I can think of is that the tactics of the Chicago political/union mob has had a lingering or time released effect on these Midwest pubbies.

Are they afraid to incite and anger the commie nutjob types they were elected to control/eradicate?
Are they that naive to think that these types can be trusted to do the right thing?

Republicans; snatching defeat from the jaws of victory yet again.

What spineless...!! What is the antonym for machiavellian because that is exactly what the republicans are. The democrtes will smell weakness and will be emboldened just like their jihadist cousins.

I can hear them now “The Republicans droped the comtempt charges because they knew they were in the wrong and this proves it. “

It is not upon the Republicans to offer the olive branch. It will only be knocked away. If they do this they will lose public favor and will indeed look weak and wrong.

Republicans at all levels are masters at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory! It’s that damned moral compass and sense of fair play. Democrats don’t seem to suffer from such maladies. I wish just once, when we had our boot on their throats, we’d keep it there!
