Democrat wants to eliminate fleeing as option to hold up votes
By Jason Stein of the Journal Sentinel

Madison A Democratic state senator wants to make it impossible for senators in the future to block legislative action by leaving the state.
Sen. Tim Cullen of Janesville was one of the 14 Democrats in the Senate who sought unsuccessfully to block Gov. Scott Walker's budget-repair law by driving to Illinois on Feb. 17 and only returning last week. That law drew massive protests by repealing most collective bargaining by public employees in the state.
In other news, Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald (R-Juneau) has scheduled a press conference for 1:30 Tuesday at the Capitol following his statement Monday that Democrats in the Senate would be unable to immediately vote in committees because they are still being held in contempt of the Senate.
"The main point I want to make is that what we did we had every legal right to do. It was an extraordinary step against an extraordinary bill," Cullen said. But "the institution of the Senate is not well-served going forward by having this particular avenue available."

Fleer’s remorse?..................
Then he shouldn’t have done so. Moron.
It's one thing to work with people, but really, some people you work with you ABSOLUTELY DON'T WANT TO LIVE WITH.
NEVER trust a democrat, lying traitors all.
This rat is simply trying to dig himself out of a hole...
There are good historical reasons for the quorum requirement.
Democrat abuse of it does not mean we should reward them with the opportunity to abuse the lack of a quorum.
If he were serious, he’d propose a bill that any senator leaving the state to avoid a vote automatically loses his seat and it is filled by appointment of the Governor until the next election.
No remorse. He’s just trying to blunt the recall effort on his ass.
Give the fleebagging cheeseheads some more whine time.
A rule is just something you hold your opponent to.
Saul Alinsky said so.
Just another liberal hypocrite.
Well, since it didn’t work and reflected badly on them to the point they were openly mocked, of course he’d want to change that.
Kinda sounds like he was forced to do it.
Kinda sounds like “we don’t want Republicans to be
able to do it to us in the future”
He’s from Ryan’s congressional district. Must be a fairly Republican area.
Running away didn’t help Cullen’s future any so now he is trying to make amends.
It was OK for me but not for thee?
That’s what it sounds like to me. I think he’s affraid that Republicans might try the same thing if Democrats ever get another chance to ruin the state.
I immediately called in my Chief of Staff, my Chief Legislative Liason Officer, and my Deputy Chief of Staff for Scheduling. I demanded answers, the absolute truth. When I didn't get the clear explanation I was looking for, immediately, I laid down the law: I demanded a full investigation, and a detailed report, prefaced by an Executive Summary of no more than one paragraph, to be on my desk by the close of business of next Tuesday, March 22.
The people of Our Great State deserve better than this, and I can assure them, here and now, that we will leave no stone unturned in our effort to get to the bottom of this.
And, they are proud of that legacy. Pitiful low life mentality that they have.
I don't think they had any legal right to flee.
