... If (Gaddafi) wins the current civil war, he will kill his enemies. A bloodbath is coming...He can be stopped, though. When President Ronald Reagan retaliated for the La Belle attack by bombing Libya, Gaddafi got the message and quieted down. When Gaddafi saw that America went after Saddam Husseins (suspected) weapons of mass destruction, he rid himself of his own. He even paid reparations for the Pan Am 103 bombing. Moammar Gaddafi is a madman, but not mad.
...it would be productive if the Obama administration got its marbles out of its mouth. Its pronouncements thus far have been all over the lot: Gaddafi must go, but not if he really doesnt want to...Ben Rhodes of the National Security Council propounded what the Wall Street Journal has rightly called The Obama Doctrine. It goes like this: You first.
Amazingly, the White House wants to wait on nearly everyone to do almost anything the United Nations, NATO, multilateral organizations and bilateral relationships"...This is a highfalutin way of saying that first were gonna have a meeting and then break into committees and then report back ...
This is very nice very un-George W. Bush-like, and that is somewhat the point. But Obama has taken prudence to the point of procrastination. The international community...always looks to U.S. leadership. President Nicolas Sarkozy of France established diplomatic relations with the Libyan rebels, but the world hardly noticed or cared. Its the United States that matters. We have the bucks. We have the expertise. We have the military. We lead, they follow. This may not be as it ought to be. It is, however, how it is....

Mr. Cohen, I say good luck with the UN, France, AUS, NZ and the rest of Europe who buys Libyan oil, helping you stop the Libyan nutjob.
In fact, most of the worlds problems don’t really affect us that much, so good luck with the UN, in fact, why not move the UN to Libya, Korea or Zimbabwe since that is where the problem is, not NYC.
Also, KMA. Drill baby, Drill!
What would replace Quaddafi?
Another pack of Mulsims led by Al Quaeda?
Is that a win?
If the Arabs feel they need a no-fly zone, let them set it up, they have their own Air Forces.
the leaders of North Korea, Iran, Syria, Sudan, Yemen, Burma, Zimbabwe, Russia and China - among others- also have histories of murder
so?
Bush took Saddam Hussein and his sons off the grid and faced sheer hell from Cohen and lefties for it, and now they expect Barry to grow a set?
Ghaddafi, will win, if things remain the same...is he a bastard, no doubt.
The real problem is the rebels there will be worse. a islamic republic will do one thing, try to expand and overtake more and more territory.
Animals they are, the islamic brotherhood is not stupid, they will appear to be benevolent, thank the west and accept aid in cash and weapons, right up until the day they attack us.
I say let Ghaddafi, kill them all then, let allah sort them out.
You go buy some boots at the mall, and I'll file the serial numbers off the pistol so that I'd have plausible deniability should you be captured by Gadaffi's forces wearing your new boots.
Democrats lead by Sen Patrick Leahy, stopped President Reagan from toppling Gadaffi.

Dunno why so many FReepers want the Gov't to be fixing or solving the worlds problems.
Cool. I was actually rooting for Daffy. If the rebels won, we would likely have had an Islamist government replacing him and aligning with either Iran or al-Queda (maybe both).
As it stands, with Daffy recognizing that the opposition to him was organized from the mosques, perhaps he will deal with the Islamists within his borders.
ah! the silver lining...
Then I'm taking Michelle and her posse to Rio for Spring Break!
But taking out Saddam was somehow a bad thing.
You won’t ever be a national leader in ME if you are not a killer. Kill or get killed.
Richard Cohen of the Washington Post has made assumptions that are off base. He assumes Obama has respect and that he is capable of influencing events.
With regard to the old man Qadaffi, that is wrong. Obama has no respect and is not capable of influencing events
Let the Arabs clean their own sand box.
It is indeed quite telling and important. Thank you for posting the article. I agree, of course, with everything else you said and, inparticular: and Obama spent the weekend golfing and talking about Women's History Month on the radio.
When I see his behavior, all I can think of is Nero. We elected Nero to the White House.

“Richard Cohen, if you want American “boots on the ground” in Libya, let’s start with yours. I’ll even loan you an old pistol that ought to serve you well.”
You forgot to offer to loan Cohen “balls”. But, if wouldn’t have made any difference - his body would have just rejected them!
It’s the only rational approach in this case.
Minor nit to pick. Of course we can win there. We have the capability to kill every man woman child and goat in Libya. What we are lacking is the resolve to end the problme there once and for all.
Until we go in full force to end the moslem problem, we shouldn't go at all. Let them kill each other. We can drill for oil here (Shamelessly stealing a line from up thread)
