We are listening to the leftist drive-by media expounding the leftist driven hysteria. They want to make sure that we shut down every nuclear power plant in our country and abroad. The China Syndrome was fictional and will not occur. This is serious, but it is not something that should make us want to stop utilizing nuclear energy in our own nation

This guy’s not an expert. Nuclear energy isn’t his field (although it’s apparently his father’s).

We’ll just have to wait and see what the consequences are. Personally, I doubt there will be much effect that makes it across the Pacific to the United States. But this was and remains a serious situation.

I have read a 3 page report on CNN where every single paragraph contained an error.

Get out of here. You expect me to believe that? CNN?

Thanks for posting.

This has never made me think we should forego nuclear power, but I have been concerned from time to time about a localized health disaster. So this is good info.

I was half thinking this was the case myself. Especially after the sailors washed off the little they encountered with soap and water.

Or, to put it another way: I think it's premature to say "you can stop worrying." I wouldn't worry much, but I think a statement that you can stop worrying entirely is entirely premature. Don't panic, but keep an eye on the situation, as it bears watching.

I don’t believe there’s going to be anything on the level of Chernobyl but the Japanese are clearly becoming a little worried...or overly cautious: the Prime Minister just gave a live address consisting entirely of asking everyone within 20 KM of Fukushima Plant 1 to absolutely leave the area.

News flash: A fourth reactor is on fire, reactor number 2 is probably melting down, the Prime Minister was just on TV try to tell people not to panic. I’d say the SHHTF!

Who ever wrote that article is a clown.

For some balance, read this:

http://www.ki4u.com/illwind.htm

Then decide whether or not you should buy potassium iodide for your family, or if you should stop drinking milk until the Japan nuclear crisis subsides.

This guy knows nothing - nada - about nuclear reactors, power, engineering, nada.

MIT is having to disavow this guy in a sense. This stupid and meaningless article is all over the internet. Do a search on his publications (I did) and you’ll see why this article is absolutely useless and meaningless. Someone is paying him to write soothing pablum.

If the containment vessel is cracked or damaged, there will
be a meltdown because coolant water will leak out and not
cover the fuel rods.

OK, I admit that I haven’t read the whole article. But, I will say that I am not about to “stop worrying”. This is a bad situation and we’re in some uncharted waters here.
