My husband pointed out, when we were watching coverage of the clean up at Christchurch, that it was the citizens who were operating the fire hoses to clean up the sidewalks. No one was sitting around waiting for the government to come and clean up the mess.

Reminiscent of the Tennessee floods or the Kentucky ice storm...the people just rolled up their sleeves and got the job done...no Obama/government wanted or needed...

clean up at Christchurch, that it was the citizens who were operating the fire hoses to clean up the sidewalks.Families in outer suburbs that had water and electricity paired up with families from the city so they could come out and shower, do laundry, etc. College students by the thousands helped people shovel and carry the "sludge" that rose up through the ground and covered wide areas. Contrast that with the college students in Wisconsin....sigh....

The difference is that in the good old USA a citizen would be arrested fined, charged with “environmental crimes”. So you dare not. This is amurika. We charge people with crimes. I saw a thread with Freepers applauding a felony charge against a young girl who killed a hamster. This is america. We really can't build enough jails to keep the attorney's happy.
