MANCHESTER, N.H. Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmanns suggestion Saturday that the Revolutionary War began in Concord, N.H., rather than Lexington and Concord, Mass., marks the third time in recent months that the potential GOP presidential hopeful has committed a puzzling gaffe about history and current affairs.
Making her first trek to New Hampshire as a 2012 prospect, Bachmann told a GOP crowd in Manchester: Youre the state where the shot was heard around the world at Lexington and Concord.
The Revolutionary War began, not in New Hampshires capital, but in the famous two towns more than 50 miles away in Massachusetts.
For Bachmann, who leads the House Tea Party caucus and champions a return to the Constitution, to get such basic facts wrong about the countrys birth is revealing.
Her comment wasnt just an off-hand reference that she inserted in her remarks. At a fundraiser Friday night on the New Hampshire Seacoast, Bachmann said almost the exact same thing

I wonder if the DemonHack Operatives JONATHAN MARTIN & KENDRA MARR are published in all 57 States for Corpsemen? If they just spread the wealth around, then the bitter gun-and-bible clingers could stop acting stupidly.
..that may even be worse..lol
This part I did like from a voter; but not Bachmann ... [sighs]:
"We see you on Fox all the time! Keep up the good work!" called out Valerie Lallas, a retrired teacher from Lynnfield, as Bachmann signed autographs after her speech.
"I'm on CNN, too," Bachmann replied.
"But we don't watch CNN," Lallas said.
Bachmann was trying to show she was more Independent? didn't want to be connected specifically with Fox, her ever faithful cheerleaders?
I like and respect Bachmann and think that, as ditsy as this statement is, people will understand she under the stress of a campaign and just screwed up.
I hope she learns a lesson and hires local proof readers. It just surprises me that some people want to try to pass this statement off as being correct in some esoteric way.
I grew up in New England and this stuff is baseball & apple pie level US history there.
It was a major gaffe.
Yes, there were many more trees then which the sound could bounce off from, the King marked them for himself --the White Pines War was in great part of why the Revolutionary War came to be.
The school was in Manchester, NH.
The "Republican fund raising" honey pot was at a hotel in Nashua.
as I..
..and agree with you further.
..but that was a positive spin for Palin!! Matternich was thought highly intelligent and moral..perhaps the nicest thing they have said about Palin.
Your standards are very low.
Courage is all very well, but ignorant courage is worse than useless. The old saying, "fools go where angels fear to tread," is appropriate here.
A real leader has to know enough to be able to tell when one or more of those "countless advisers" is giving bad advice.
As for Ms. Bachmann's gaffe, I suppose it's natural enough; but what it really shows to the people of NH and MA, is that she doesn't care enough about them to take the proper care when she speaks.
You’re full of pus, frank.
Thats sad that she made this mistake.
The way things are, she is done as a potential candidate.
Repubs/Conservatives can not make ONE MISTAKE otherwise they are DONE these days as far as the MSM and the general public is concerned.
I like her as well but never really thought of her as President. Just it appears no one wants to be aligned with any one party or any one news network..like it is a shameful connection. LOL
However, the Nashua fund raiser was under the Republican banner or so reported.
The rest of the country will forget..or never even paid attention this early in the game.
Meanwhile, Obama sharpens up his golf game. What me worry?
Perhaps doesn't care is a little strong, but one better do their own homework and not have someone [ likely a young writer] do it for them; because it will give that appearance.
Agree... but not just MA and NH, all of New England.
Our desperation shows in finding some one..not cool.
