NRA-ILA Executive Director Chris W. Cox Calls for Expedited Hearings into BATFE Investigative Tactics |
Wednesday, March 09, 2011 |
On March 9, NRA-ILA Executive Director Chris W. Cox sent letters to key leaders in Congress calling for hearings to examine the firearms trafficking investigations tactics employed by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Those tactics have allegedly allowed firearms to fall into the hands of Mexican criminal organizations, with the knowledge of the BATFE.
In the letters sent to House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith (R-Texas) and Ranking Member, John Conyers (D-Mich.) and their counterparts in the U.S. Senate, Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) and Ranking Member Charles Grassley (R-Iowa), Cox wrote that the BATFE project reportedly allowed over 2,000 firearms to be sold to individuals already linked to Mexican drug cartels. Many of those transactions were reported as suspicious by the licensed firearms dealers themselves, but BATFE reportedly encouraged them to proceed with these sales, which the dealers would otherwise have turned down.
Cox also called on the committees to look into the BATFE responses to inquiries about these suspect programs, stating Any investigation should also examine the responses by the BATFE and the Department of Justice to earlier congressional inquiries about the Fast and Furious program.

if this gains traction, fubo is toast...and i do not mean a slap on the wrist. being complicit in the murder of a federal agent, participating in illegal weapon smuggling and international treaty violations will put him in prison... see tagline
This story has been going on for a couple of months and now they decide to get involved?
Why should worrying about what the other side thinks have to do with doing what is right?
One thing for sure, we will be fighing the MSM every step of the way for the recovery of our nation, and it will be whether or not we choose to engage.
Ditto.
That is why we saw the big splashy CBS evening news expose on Gunwalker. It does go up the WH but the WH is going to push it back down to ATF scapegoats.
Just my two cents but I smell diesel exhaust, and I ain't talking about Janet Nappy "hot air."
I hear a bus cranking up on Pennsylvania Av...
.
It's only gotten coverage in the LA Times & CBS since the start of the month. CBS questioned the White House on March 7. Do you need links?
Just listening to the basic facts is maddening....
Pray for justice!
Hearings... that’s the ticket!
1. Whitewater
2. Ruby Ridge
3. Waco
4. Murrah Building
5. TWA 800
6. The murder of Vince Foster
7. Chinese campaign finance corruption
8. Clinton abuse against women
9. Spies within the White House
I could go on. Why bother?
More hearings? Yawn...
We likely have an illegitimate President, not qualified to serve, and even that flying under the noses of our elected leaders doesn’t cause them to wince.
Yeah sure, if we had some honest folks in D. C., it would make sense. Well we don’t. Look at the mess we’re in. They’re lucky to have 11% approval for Congress.
Your Friend,
Harry Reid
These are my remarks from this thread, slightly modified.
The blame shifting & leaping to illogical exculpatory conclusions begins, but Obama's Gunwalker
This defies any rational explanation besides a push for more gun control. ATF watches 2000+ firearms go south with both insufficient manning & decent Spanish speakers, plus the State Dept. signing on to boot! Drug cartels being the nominal problem, yet they couldn't get reinforcements from the DEA, another part of DOJ? They're either idiots, evil or both! I'd put money on the latter. If the GOP nominates Daffy Duck, I think he can win. Hillary is damaged goods. Holder could easily be impeached, if he doesn't resign. This isn't lying under oath like BJ Clinton. We have one KIA, and God knows how many dead Mexicans! This should be one hell of a show until Election Day in 2012, if Bozo runs.
After the Clinton impeachment, but the failure to convict, I predicted no president will ever be impeached again if they don't know they have the votes to convict in advance.
In case you don't know, the story is being covered by CBS and the LA Times so far as I know.
Well, I’d like to see this fully outed in public. I just don’t have any faith in our government anymore.
I honestly think some people deserve long stretches in prison under the weight of this. Is that going to happen? Nah.
This will be interesting to watch. While it’s going on, we’ll be here howling for justice. See you then...
I responded to this, and probably didn’t address your comments adequately enough. I agree with your concerns here, specifically the guns moved across the border, that were used to kill one of our agents.
I am also furious to find out he was only armed with bean-bags to defend himself against AK-47s.
There are times when criminal negligence should be grounds for capital punishment.
When this agent died, the screw-ups reached serious criminal mass for me.
I do realize some major air-play is being given to this, but it almost seems as if they are touching on it, for the sole purpose of downplaying anything that is made public.
“Oh, this stuff happens all the time. It just seems terrible because we don’t see these things very often, when they really do happen all the time.”
Talking Heads Disease...
Atf whistleblowers have been talking about since the Border Patrol agent was killed in December and the gun traced back to ATF.
Was it getting any coverage in the MSM or just gun forums on the Internet? The first link is a blog that states even the State Department signed on to Gunwalker. The second is AP story on cbsnews.com. The last gives an indication that it's being covered nightly on CBS Evening News by their investigative reporter, Sharyl Attkisson. They're dated March 7 & 8.
The blame shifting & leaping to illogical exculpatory conclusions begins, but Obama's Gunwalker
Mexican legislators demand US talks on gun scandal
Documents point to ATF "gun running" since 2008
For the benefit of others, I'll repeat your comment# 3 of this thread.
This story has been going on for a couple of months and now they decide to get involved?
Of all organization, why should the NRA go off half cocked?
Bump.
Another BUMP
The blogs were carrying the load for awhile, David Codrea of the Gun Rights Examiner and Mike Vanderbough of the Sipsey Street Irregulars were the ONLY ones pushing this story... Finally the NRA jumps into the fray, but only after the story got wide coverage in the “Media”.
Although this story has been tearing up the web for months, the NRA sat on the side lines, for what reason who knows, but at least they finally took notice... Welcome to the party NRA, better late than never.
In a word....YES. That's why they my dues money and the occasional extra contribution.
The media will excoriate the NRA and gun owners for anything they do, except volunteering to turn all firearms in to be destroyed.
