Why do parents hope their children will go on to college? Most parents I know hope that college will provide the education and training needed for a satisfying and rewarding career that will also pay the bills. As the mother of two young women one a college freshman, the other a high school freshman who will soon be contemplating some form of higher education this is my hope as well. And I am so very thankful that my oldest is not attending Northwestern University, where students were recently treated to a live demonstration of female orgasm:

The actions of Northwestern were totally absurd.

I await news of the university making corrections. Meanwhile, distasteful as this story is, it needs to be kept alive, so that people can start thinking critically about college education in general. I know so many otherwise intelligent people who cannot grasp the very possibility that it might be a waste of time and money at best.

I agree - for what you (or your parents) pay for a university education, you’d think the student would be getting one...

The students are getting an "education," just not the one that their parents - or civilized society in general - expected.

I wonder what school she is going too. Probably some community college. Many students don’t get into Northwestern and wish they had. Yes this class which was done after class and you had to volunteer to attend. I mean they are adults after all. Why the kids just didn’t attend the seminar is the question most should be asking. Anyway it is just so funny how people complain about Ivy’s yet beg God to ensure that their Doctor graduated from a top medical school which is IVY....who would have thunk it. Hypocrites....

On top of everything else the woman was probably faking it.

It’s only been posted, like, ten times over the past two weeks. I guess until you blogged about it, excerpted it down to nothing, and advertised your blog under “News,” is wasn’t really news, huh?
Gotta love the “New Media.” Bloggers. Sheesh.

You know, I always wondered why Northwestern was so expensive - but I graduated from one of those “no-frills” schools, with no in-class entertainment.

It’s interesting that the “students” who “volunteered” to do the live peep show were 25 ...... and 44
that professor sure does swing in interesting sordid circles

Why did you excerpt?
Why should FReepers have to give an advertising hit to a MySpace page to read a story posted on a forum that we already support with our contributions?
It is a very liberal and disgusting thing to value your personal ad revenue and hit count over getting the story out.
Just for your info the vast majority of FReepers will not click on a potentially virus laden MySpace page for the full story and you can bet your ass I didn’t.

Barring a brain scan done at the time of the “demonstration, there is no sure way to determine whether the “orgasm” was real or faked.
Sounds like tuition refund time.

As Paul Harvey would have said: and now you know the rest of the story.
