Sen. Richard Lugar (R-Ind.), the most senior member of the Senate Republican Conference, said Tuesday he will oppose the House-passed proposal to make drastic cuts to the federal budget.
He is the first Senate Republican to publicly state his opposition to a plan that Democrats have blasted as reckless.
Lugar, who is facing a Tea Party-backed challenge in the 2012 Indiana Republican primary, is taking a political risk. But he and other centrist Republicans have concerns about steep spending cuts that will eliminate funding for some federal programs in mid-year.

This type of stuff has been going on far too long. Even this old geezer can’t say no to his “good friends across the aisle”. Even Orrin Hatch is trying some CYA, which hopefully won’t work.

You know, if the push for term limits had succeeded years ago, we wouldn’t have to put up with Lugar and I doubt we’d be on the brink of bankruptcy.

Richard Luger has been a RINO for so long that the senate Democrats probably automatically count on his vote for or against whatever they're for or against. I hope this outrage (voting against a very small cut in the huge federal budget) finally wakes up Hoosiers that this man does not have their best interests at heart but cares more about expanding government and adding new tax burdens to already-overtaxed Americans. I really despise RINOs.

Retire.
You’ve done enough !

Does anyone here doubt that Lugar would run 3rd Party, or write-in, if he lost the Primary?
Even if it would deliver the seat to a Dem, out of spite?
