I’m partial to the B-24 Liberator.
I’m surprised they were able to get off the ground considering the collective weight of the stones it took to fly a mission over Europe in one.

I agree. I was visiting my mother in Tucson over the weekend. She lives close to Davis-Monthan AFB. There were a couple of P-51's flying around. They get your juices going.

About ten years ago I was working in my driveway on a lovely Saturday morning. Just then I heard the faint but increasing sound of something strangely familiar. A moment later a P-51D flew right over my house at about 1000 feet. It took me two hours to calm down. A great way to start the day!
