Where have the civility police gone?
The American Thinker Blog ^ | March 05, 2011 | Thomas Lifson

When the left loses, it goes thuggish. The latest example comes from Ohio's state capital, in the wake of passage of a bill limiting public employee union collective bargaining. From Jim Seagal and Kathy Gray of the Columbus Dispatch:

"... police were called to a German Village restaurant after a group verbally accosted a gathering of Senate Republicans.

"After the vote on Senate Bill 5, seven Republican senators, including President Tom Niehaus, R-New Richmond, grabbed dinner at the Easy Street Cafe. As the lawmakers neared the end of their meal, a group of five to 10 union supporters angry about the passage of the bill hours before burst into the restaurant and began shouting.

"The commotion eventually led to pushing and shoving with the restaurant staff and owner, before police arrived to calm the situation as a police helicopter hovered overhead. No senators were involved in the physical altercations, and no charges have been filed."

Wow! Left wingers instigate a brawl harrassing elected officials. I don't expect the broadcast etworks to feature this one. And the mainstream media is certainly not going to pepper Obama, or any other hypocritical pious Dem denouncer of Sarah Palin in the aftermath of Tucson, with questions about the incident. But the conspicuous silence does speak volumes. The public is catching on to the con. The media can downplay the sins of the left, but their ability to keep the story out of the public consciousness is diminished. The American people are catching on that the civility movement was all a con, a means of exploiting the acts of a madman for political advantage, exploiting the suffering of their wounded colleague.

The "civility police" is, the media.

They pick and choose what is to be covered, approved or condemned.

In the middle of every debate, fight, or riot...the MSM is always there, throwing gas on the flames.

Conflict is news...a good name-calling match can easily turn into fisticuffs if enough lies are bantered back and forth in the newspaper or broadcast media.

Most debates could be handled peacefully, except that the media has to interfere to "generate" an even larger news story.

Unfortunately, people are drawn to that like they are the wrecks at the races and the fights on "Cops".

The media plays politicians like $2 fiddles, usually fixing it so their side (the left) comes out looking heroic, or at least, civil, while never missing a stroke to demonize the conservatives.

"Investigative reporting" has come to be a title those reporters lacking in credibility assign to themselves to sell papers. The only "investigation" in many cases is asking the leftist leaders what is OK to print, and what is not.

Lefty reporters use themselves as the current public opinion...when they say "Americans not happy with GOP leadership" in a headline...well, the reporters are "Americans", and they're leftys, and they aren't happy with GOP leadership.

If you cheat, the stories write themselves.

"Most Americans", means more than one in MSM-speak. "A recent survey" means "we asked around the newsroom for opinions".

They on the left are all of the same school as “my people”
Eric Holder is. Anything thugish— or that would not be tolerated of any Republican/conservative/ Christian/Patriot (pick as many as apply) is acceptable just us when done by “my people” because “y’all hasn’t suffered enough”

I recall a two panel Far Side cartoon. In the first panel the man is scolding the dog. “Ginger, you must do this. Ginger, you did that.” The second panel was labeled, What the dog hears. “Ginger...Ginger...Ginger...” All the public hears is the general tone of the news, which is one hundred percent anti-conservative.

The reason for assaulting the Republicans after the vote is to threaten them with what may happen next time they vote against the fascists. I’ve read about ACORN people hunting down a banker’s young children and giving them a note to give to daddy reading, “I sure hope little Sally likes it here at Southeastern Middle School. The physical threats, the implied threats, these are well orchestrated by organized groups. In the case of ACORN, they’re even taxpayer funded.

Don’t think that just because Free Republic readers know what’s happening that the general public does too. They don’t. They have CNN nattering in the background while they pack lunches and hustle kids off to school. They absorb the “tragic, horrific, unconscionable” tone and that’s all they know.

The key to this violence is that the “group” consisted of ten. That means somebody was on lookout to spot the senators. Somebody else group-called or texted the flash-mob. Then, they waited until the senators were eating so they couldn’t just leave. This didn’t happen spontaneously. These people should be arrested and charged with stalking. (Notice, no arrests. If there had been, they’d have been bailed out by the lawyer on standby.)

Civility is dead.

I no longer have respect for any liberal who supports those who are violent.

It is time to stand up to evil.

If I remember correctly, she is also married to some guy who is employed by the Republican Party.

“The “civility police” is, the media.”
***************

Actually, I THINK, the old media is now the “fourth estate”

The old town criers, the pamphleteers, etc. are out there again—they are the bloggers, emailers, webmasters, etc.—everyone whose voice is heard via the internet—that’s why they want to control/or turn the internet to their own purposes.

Stop them, all together now—they are scared ****less of The Net!

like the old saying, DON’T LET THEM *** ON YA, OPEN YER MOUTH!

I had no idea anybody else would quote a Larson cartoon; let alone the same cartoon. I periodically remember one and snicker.
