Goliath Davis III, whose rise to the top of his hometown Police Department and City Hall made him the city's most influential African-American official, was fired by Mayor Bill Foster this week.
Davis said the mayor wanted him out because he did not attend Tuesday's funeral for the third officer killed in the city in 28 days. Yet the former police chief did go to the funeral of the convict who killed the first two officers.

Im going to go out on a limb here and guess that the officers killed were all White, and the perp who’s funeral he want to happend to be Black?
The police union has been out to get Davis for years. This is union cop politics at its best. Next comes thuggery.
Exactly. Perp #2 was also Black. Davis skipped the earlier memorial service as well.
Who the hell names their kid “Goliath”?
That is like naming them ‘Ahab’, or ‘Haman’, or ‘Balaam’.
Three generations of brick stupid.
He was a very big baby, so they named him Goliath.
“made him the city’s most influential African-American official, was fired by Mayor Bill Foster this week.’
What the hell is an “African-American.”
Is that some dumbass who can’t figure out which continent he’s standing on?
Not “his people”.
He only likes to attend the funerals of ‘his people’. I’m guessing Affirmative Action was involved.
Maybe, for once, the police union was right. Goliath may have been well named, because he sounds like a giant jerk.
CHECK!
St Pete's black population is obsessed with race and is offended by anything and everything.
To most, race trumps all.
If the sky is cloudy it's because some whites wanted to stick it to the blacks.
I’d fire him too. Those three officers worked for him and by not attending, it was disrespectful of him to their memory, and to every officer still living that worked for him.
Then, he compounded it by attending the funeral of the killer for two of them?
I would fire him, then rehire him just to fire him again.
What officer would work for this guy after that?
There are some very radical groups in St Pete who preach violence and overthrow of the govt.
So help me out here. Who am I supposed to support? A former official who smacks of racism, or the union thugs?
How about we just celebrate this guy is off the payroll.
Neither one as far as I can see. There are no heros here.
But, just for old times sake, why would the union be out to get him?
That's pretty wishful thinking, livius. When was the last time you noticed a union doing anything for anyone except what's good for the union?
There are no heros here.
>>>>St Pete’s black population is obsessed with race<<<<
That’s true for EVERYWHERE!!!
