The Economist provides the handy chart below assessing the Republican presidential field for 2012.
The bottom line?
If this is the best the Republicans can do, they might as well concede right now.

Had many Mormon friends there. I am not Mormon and never will be.
I was Republican County Chairman in Grant County NM for a few years. The registration was 5 Dems to 1 Pubbie, it was a mine union town. (there were some Hard Lefties there) The 3 groups I could always count on at the poles were the Rock Ribbed Republican Ranchers, the Mormons and the John Birchers. No matter what, they were at the poles voting for the good guys.
So, I despise Romney for his Rino record, his phony presence and his blue blood Pubbie bigotry.
Good old boys from the South will never vote for his ilk.
I guess you know nothing about "special fees*."

* A friend of mine relates a tale about a business trip to a South American country. When it became time to leave a "government agent" found his traveling companion's visas (or whatever) insufficient or expired. After some back and forth, my friend asked if there was some "special fee" that they could pay to let the companion leave the country. After a brief examination of their wallets a fee was agreed upon and they flew home.
I noticed that Rick Santorum wasn’t on that list?
Agreed! We need a wholesale change in business, academic and political leadership, and that means going through the default first. We need respectful, new leadership and a man like Duncan Hunter for president.
There is a whole list of scum that he has paid. They’re not all bribes.
And a most good businesspeople get by without paying such bribes.
No excuse.
In my opinion, the honest truth about the Rats and Pubs is plainly stated right here...
If American citizens are to resist the rush to Obammunism they must first give up on the fantasy that the Republican Party is anything but another cabal of crooks, conmen and clowns, just like the Democratic Party.
The only realistic route to freedom, including a restoration of genuine free enterprise, is through the devolution of power away from Washington, D.C. via peaceful secession and nullification, the original American ideals.
Thomas Jefferson understood that democracy could never work in a country as large as the U.S., let alone one with more than 300 million people. In a January 29, 1804 letter to Dr. Joseph Priestly he wrote: Whether we remain one confederacy, or form into Atlantic and Mississippi confederacies, I believe not very important to the happiness of either part. Those of the western confederacy will be as much our children & descendants as those of the eastern.
On the topic of secession, Jefferson continued: [D]id I now foresee a separation at some future day, yet I should feel the duty & the desire to promote the western interests as zealously as the eastern, doing all the good for both portions of our future family which should fall within my power.
When the New England Federalists were threatening secession, Jefferson wrote to his friend John C. Breckinridge on August 12, 1803 that if New England seceded and created a second confederacy, God bless them both if it be for their good, but separate them, if it is better.Unlike Lincoln, Jefferson did not believe in threatening bloodshed in the case of a separation or secession. He understood that such behavior would be a moral abomination and an unimaginable act of barbarianism.
A civilized society does not wage total war on our children, as Jefferson described the future citizens of a new state formed by an act of secession.
Yet it is Lincoln, not Jefferson, who is portrayed by American court historians as a kindly, benevolent, and charitable angel ..

I think you're quite naive.
How, exactly, do you think most politicians manage to become rich on ordinary salaries?

Is there another page of 2012 candidates?
Please. The only one they think is electable is Chris Christie? Are they kidding?
And you call Palin stupid? LOL
I hope so. This list is only 15 names long. I want to see the other 1,997 names.
Screw The House of Saud and Prince Al Waleed. They control DC, London and have been the mega money behind exporting islam and muslims to the west. They are not our friends. I will take enemies over these people any day.
The American public is so stupid and manipulated by TV and fox is no better.
I know principled businesspeople personally. Scum pay scum.
Both the payer and the payee are the problem.
I’m sorry if this doesn’t match your imagination of the truth.
Nobody on this list will ever be President. Sorry...but that’s the truth. I think that a candidate’s popularity on FR is in direct inverse proportion their popularity among the public at large.
That’s a damn cynical and snarky chart. It’s full of high-school “he’s ugly” crap.
Ataturk said THAT?!
Sorry but anyone who saya that Romney will never be the GOP nominee has no familiarity with the history of the party. He will be the nominee and he will lose. Just like Bob Dole. That’s the way the GOP works. It’s ‘his turn’.
And the instant such a candidate pops his head above the fence, the lying media will train all their firepower on him. But at least that will give Sarah Palin a break from being the one they most fear.
I know the history, but these are not the good old days. The Tea Party has put the Pubbies on notice that we will not go there again. If Romney is the nominee of the Republican Party, there will be a huge bolt. The dolts in DC know it, so it will not happen this time.
If we look to the GOP for our candidates, we will lose this country.
WE THE PEOPLE need to stand up and chose our ‘alternative.”
You want some who would “aggressively reassert American interests and discipline on the rouge states...” etc.
LOOK OUTSIDE THE BOX - NOT to the Establishment.
You want someone who knows who are enemies are “Foreign and domestic” - and who will name them and who will fight them - and who our enemies will FEAR?
How about someone who knows our Constitution backward and foreward? How about someone who loves this country and also knows the Bible through and through? How about someone who knows Islam line by line and will face them down - and political correctness be damned? How about someone with decades of leadership and a proved record of standing firm, even at great personal loss, for what he knows is right?
Would you like a person like that? Or just another good ole boy from the worn out list of Establishment candidates? That REALLY worked out great for us in 2008, didn't it.
How many of you can think outside of the box?
Here's just a few clip to think about - but while on YouTube, watch more on this man. (Israel wishes he could run for their Prime Minister.)

Save these clips in a desktop file and email everyone and post everywhere. The Establishment is afraid of Lt. Col West. The muzzies are. The demRats are and are doubly troubled because how do they use their favorite weapon: “RACIST! “
This man would hit the ground running - he's a seasoned leader, he backs down to no one, He loves this country and will defend our Constitution against ALL enemies, “Foreign AND domestic.”
Throughout history, at it's darkest moments, a leader will appear unexpectedly - “the man and the Time have met”
