Diplomacy: Like a guilt-ridden divorced dad, President Obama met with Mexico's President Calderon Thursday and quickly caved in to all he asked. That's a jackpot for Mexico. But for the U.S., it's a mixed bag.
The only reason Thursday's White House meeting between President Obama and Mexican President Felipe Calderon wasn't a complete loss for the U.S. was that some of the Mexican leader's agenda was to persuade Obama to respect free markets, honor U.S. treaty obligations, and help win Mexico's war spilling over the U.S. border.
Up until now, Obama's paid scant attention to any of these issues, seeing Mexico solely in domestic political terms. With time getting short, Calderon's hasty visit was met with Obama caving in to all of his requests.
Even so, there was some good news on one front from this White House summit.
President Obama announced at long last that the U.S. would restore Mexican trucking rights in the U.S. after Congress let a pilot program enacted under NAFTA expire in 2009.
That mistake cost U.S. companies $2.4 billion in retaliatory Mexican tariffs, and tens of thousands of U.S. jobs. Mexico, remember, is America's third-largest trading partner, and the impact was big.
In this case, caving in to Calderon wasn't a bad thing.

I wonder if Calderon kissed him first?
It’s like I’m not even living in the United States anymore.
Once again our make believe, empty suit “president” caves to foreign leaders. No doubt in my mind where his loyalties lie. No doubt at all.
If Hussein did that, and they really come, that alone will earn him a swift drop kick out the door in 2012.
“honor U.S. treaty obligations, and help win Mexico’s war spilling over the U.S. border.”
What, did Obama assure him we would quit arming the cartels in “Operation Gunwalker”
With the Communist Black Klan in the White House I feel the same way.

IBD thinks that giving Mexican trucks free access to the United States is “good news”? To hell with them!
Good grief! We hear all about the illegals crossing our borders on foot, now we allow them to come over by the truck loads.
You ever see any Mexican trucks? Disaters on wheels, like the whole agreement is.
