As America's middle class battles for its survival on the Wisconsin barricades - against various Koch Oil surrogates and the corporate toadies at Fox News - fans of enlightenment, democracy and justice can take comfort from a significant victory north of the Wisconsin border. Fox News will not be moving into Canada after all! The reason: Canadian regulators announced last week they would reject efforts by Canada's right-wing Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, to repeal a law that forbids lying on broadcast news.
Canada's Radio Act requires that "a licenser may not broadcast ... any false or misleading news." The provision has kept Fox News and right-wing talk radio out of Canada and helped make Canada a model for liberal democracy and freedom. As a result of that law, Canadians enjoy high quality news coverage, including the kind of foreign affairs and investigative journalism that flourished in this country before Ronald Reagan abolished the "Fairness Doctrine" in 1987. Political dialogue in Canada is marked by civility, modesty, honesty, collegiality, and idealism that have pretty much disappeared on the US airwaves. When Stephen Harper moved to abolish the anti-lying provision of the Radio Act, Canadians rose up to oppose him fearing that their tradition of honest non-partisan news would be replaced by the toxic, overtly partisan, biased and dishonest news coverage familiar to American citizens who listen to Fox News and talk radio. Harper's proposal was timed to facilitate the launch of a new right-wing network, "Sun TV News" which Canadians call "Fox News North."

I think you may be right... I read the article a couple of times, and still couldn't figure out exactly what Kennedy was spouting off about. Probably written while drunk, knowing the Kennedys... ;-)
Thanks for your info... I didn't realize the Toronto Sun was relatively conservative.
Simple... he's delusional, like every other guilt-ridden-whiney-@ssed-bedwetter
The claims is this ah ‘article’ are pure bs. FoxNews is broadcast in Canada from coast to coast.
There is no such Act called the Canada Radio Act.
Read the article RSN links to at http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/ottawa-notebook/crtc-ditches-bid-to-allow-fake-news/article1921489/
titled “CRTC ditches bid to allow fake news” which I guess RFK never bothered to read or he would have written the not based on reality piece he did.
RSN will added to my “don’t bother” list.
What post above? You have no post above.

..Robert F. Kennedy Jr. accused of publishing false or misleading news about Canada
By Marc Weisblott | Daily Brew Wed, 2 Mar, 2011
Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the environmentalist from America’s star-crossed political dynasty, was probably just looking for an excuse to bash Prime Minister Stephen Harper in his latest contribution to the Huffington Post.
“Harper, often referred to as ‘George W. Bush’s Mini Me,’ is known for having mounted a Bush-like war on government scientists, data collectors, transparency, and enlightenment in general,” wrote Kennedy. “He is a wizard of all the familiar tools of demagoguery; false patriotism, bigotry, fear, selfishness and belligerent religiosity.”
But in the effort to further this point, Kennedy presented information that was more “false or misleading” than the developments he attempted to explain to a primarily U.S. readership with a dubious exclamation: “Fox News will not be moving into Canada after all!”
Good catch kcvl
Fox news is in Canada, has been for years, I watch it every day.
Fox news is broadcast in Canada. I watch it every day. This article is full of nonsense, not worth reading.
What is funny is I read that the Koch brothers funded conservative TEA party causes, but have also funded drug legalization and fighting the patriot act.
When you tell the leftist this, you can see their brain pop out of gear.

“list the lies liberals:
?
didnt think so”
Actually, when you think about it, virtually every misnomer and lie involving politics and social issues is AGAINT the right (or favors the left).
I cannot think of a lie or myth about the left in the general public’s belief system (you know, the scuttlebut on the street, at the barbershop / beauty shop).
From “Women make only 75% os a man’s salary,” to all of the lies about Big Business, Bush, Palin, et al, all of them are untrue about the right.
The majority of the Kennedy article is a lie, Fox News is allready in Canada, but he really means SunTV, but that has allready been approved to start mid April, so wrong again.
Canada does not have a ‘radio act’, there is not one iota of proof that PM Harper tried to have the ‘false and misleading news’ act changed or repealed. A bi-partisan committee from over 10 years ago has been asking for a wording change in order to comply with our Constitution.
This article gives yellow journalism a bad name, it is one of the more disgraceful pieces I have ever read.
“Canada’s Radio Act requires that “a licenser may not broadcast ... any false or misleading news.” The provision has kept Fox News and right-wing talk radio out of Canada and HELPED MAKE CANADA A MODEL FOR LIBERAL DEMOCRACY AND FREEDOM.”
Surreal! How blindingly stupid do you have to be to write such a sentence?
God help us, please.
This is bullshit. Fox News is not banned in Canada. I get it on channel 181 up here. This article is a complete lie.
I hope someone forwards this thread to Roger Ailes.
