Former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn.) was in the Capitol on Wednesday for the unveiling of his official portrait.
Former President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney were also on hand for the event.
Below is our pool report on the gathering, .....

Scores of current and former senators, aides and administration officials - including former President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney -- filled the Old Senate Chamber shortly after 3:30 p.m. Wednesday for the unveiling of the portrait of former Sen. Bill Frist (R-Tenn.), who served as majority leader from 2003 until his retirement in 2007.
Bush, clad in a dark blue suit, appeared upbeat as he sat onstage next to Frist to the left of a podium.

Cheney was sitting in the audience, as were several other Bush administration officials, including former Defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld and McConnell's wife, former Labor secretary Elaine Chao.

What I’m saying!
Also, it’s the height of journalistic sloppiness that the stinkin’ wash post doesn’t mention the painter. And, no surprise.
Nope ..
Frist and Bush helped destroy the GOP and set the stage for Obama.
Yeah, yeah, yeah ...
That’s a pretty flippant response to a true statement. No matter how much you might like W and his blue blood family, his brand of republicanism led to Obama and put us in the situation we are in today.
I’m flippant because your statement is naive.
Please, to purposely ignore the impact of the media lies and coverups, the shielding of his past and puppets who ‘chose’ him, the suspicious financial collapse that ‘just happened’ on the cusp of the ‘08 election (as today the Pentagon’s hinting at financial terrorism, but further investigation is being blocked), a very unsuitable and weak opponent, and the billions of illegal and purposely unsourced foreign BHO campaign contributions from the Gaza, Arab/unfriendly nations (and George Soros), etc. reflects poorly on the depth of your knowledge and perspective as a FReeper.

...and frankly, sort of a doofus, like his dad....but I’m not a Republican, I’m a conservative...and according to W, I’m also a “nativist” because I believe our borders should be protected and our laws enforced.
Let me guess, Jeb 2012?
As I recall, Frist had a spine like jello.
Wasn’t Frist the one who said about Terri, “Not on MY watch”, meaning that nothing would happen to Terri? I’m sure HE said that. I’ve been down on him ever since. Also, on the painting - why is there a painting being done on him, anyway? He was just a senator, yes?
Star, you have no idea how much I needed that :) Thank you!!
Grown ups and PATRIOTS! . . . Thanks for the ping!!
Glad to see you are still master of the cutting comment o:)
Those were certainly the days
Snugs!! Soooo good to see you! Yes, they were, and won’t be again. Unfortunately! Our country has gotten very scary these past 2 years. :(
It’s always wonderful to see your beautiful portrait of GW. :)
SNUGS! How nice to hear from you. I think of you often and hope that all is well.
Thank you for your post #12, Starwise. I’m so tired of telling pseudo conservatives on FR that Pres. Bush tried 14 times to get oversight on Fannie and Freddy that I think I’ll have to write it up, store it on my computer, and just copy and paste it.
JONNY!
BOTH your paintings on post #12 are gorgeous.
Oh, by the way, get ready for company on Easter. Spot’s packing now.
Just what exactly does that comment mean?
