Chauncey DeVega: The Silent Majority EXCLUSIVE Interview
The Silent Majority ^ | 03-02-11 | Chris Dominguez

Chauncy DeVega is at it again. Not content with his portrayal of Herman Cain as a Minstrel show and a puppet of the right he paints the entire Conservative movement as nothing more than the KKK re-branded. See his latest tirade in this exclusive interview:

Q: Welcome to the Silent Majority, Mr. DeVega.

A: Thank you for the opportunity to have a conversation about the Herman Cain Minstrel Affair, as I like to call it.

Q: On the contrary, thanks for talking to us. I think this is going to be very interesting.

So first things first: after you published your essay on Herman Cain, you were accused of being a racist and of using racist language by many people in the conservative blogosphere.

I don’t think there’s any way to dispute the fact that some of the words you used were racially charged, and would have led to massive outrage had it been a white, conservative commentator saying them. So my first question to you is this: How do you defend yourself against the charge of racism? How do you defend yourself against the charge that the language you used was racist?

A: I think we need to begin with basic definitions. I am old school. Racism, to my eye, reading, and training, is prejudice plus power. I have no institutional power as a person of color in this society. Sure, I can be prejudiced, bigoted, or the like. But racist? That’s an absurd claim. Racism, true racism, is exclusive to white people. Just as sexism is exclusive to men.

This guy has definitely got a chip the size of New York on his shoulder. I think he represents the face of the enemy.

I’ve never heard of Chauncey and never would have if this blogger hadn’t given the clown more promotion than he ever managed on his own.
