Boy accidentally shoots his mother - after dad accidentally shoots himself

A young boy has accidentally shot his mother in the neck... after finding a gun lying next to his father... who'd accidentally shot himself in the leg. Oops and double oops.

The double shooting blunder happened in Alabama recently, as the father, Allen Jones, was retrieving his trusty Glock .40 handgun from the glove box in his truck.

As he walked back to his house, he tripped and fell, causing the gun to discharge and accidentally shoot him in the leg, just above his knee.

At this point Allen yelled for his wife to come and help, presumably thinking the worst was over and she would be able to take him to the hospital. But this being Asylum, you know that's not how it turned out.

Because his wife Aleisha was upstairs bathing, it was his young son who was the first on the scene. And by the time Aleisha had made it downstairs the little lad was holding the weapon.

When she then tried to take the gun from the child, another round fired, this time shooting her in the left side of her neck.

Neighbours who heard the gunfire called 911 and the wounded pair were soon taken to to hospital where they're in stable condition.

Top 5 Accidental Shooting (maybe 'top' isn't the right word, sure...)

1. Even people who are aware of the importance of weapon safety aren't immune to the odd accidental shooting. James Looney was teaching his girlfriend about the safety features on guns when he pointed one at his head and pulled the trigger. You've guessed it, the safety wasn't on.

2. A young couple who were getting married in Sicily wanted their wedding photographer to capture a quirky shot of them holding hunting rifles (as you do). Unfortunately as he was posing them up one of the guns accidentally fired shooing him in the head.

3. Wanting to feel secure in their own home, an elderly couple from Florid bought a .380-calibre pistol and decided to have a "robbery drill" to prepare for any would-be burglars. However, in the "drill" the 76-year-old man accidentally shot his 72-year-old wife in the chest. Ouch.

4. Here's an Asylum gun safety tip. If you are a sleepwalker, DON'T keep a gun by the side of your bed. A 63-year-old man from Colorado made this mistake and accidentally shot himself in the knee while he was asleep... well he wasn't asleep for long.

5. A New Zealand man was left with serious injuries to his bottom after he was accidentally shot by his pet dog. The pair were getting into vehicle after butchering a pig when the pooch jumped up and landed on the .22 rifle which had previously been used to kill the pig, firing it at his owner.

...and a safety...

Glocks don't have a safety, per se - just what's between yer ears.
Thus, it's important to have a good holster. (Purse carry not recommended.)

I think they’re in need of some elementary gun safety training.

Hmmmm. No age is given for the boy. I must wonder. Are the officals sure that the father accidently shot himself? Perhaps the boy did both shootings, but the parents didn’t want the police to know that they had allowed the boy access to the firearm? Points to ponder.

Glocks don't have a safety, per se - just what's between yer ears.

So in this case - no safety at all.

These people shouldn't have anything more sophisticated than a revolver.

Probably a single action!

The boy is only two years old. Mother was giving the boy a bath at the time. The boy somehow got to the father before the mother.
