I didn’t mention Mrs. Palin in today’s radio blog: http://www.dakotavoice.com/2011/03/on-haley-barbour-and-other-2012-presidential-possibilities/

You guys really think Palin will run? She’s making millions of dollars in the news political arena; why give all that away and be forced to actually speak to people who might actually not support her views? I know she gets flak for not being the smartest person in the world, but she’s not going to turn away all the money shes raking in right now.

And for Romney, there’s only 1 word: Mormon. Look into the religion, do you think America is ready to accept “gold plates” with words from God written on them? (to be clear, im accepting of every religion, even Mormon’s, but thats just my view)

You are the one trying to sell Palin to the rest of us. The burden of proof is on you. The information I have on her is all I need to form an opinion, I gave you just one source and listed this Forum among others. I don't need to go any further than that.

As far as your typical rude response goes, you just disqualified yourself from further contact with me.

The MSM tries to convince us Sarah is unelectable, but that is nonsense. Personally I think we can do better though - she acts like a wannabe-hollywood celeb rather than a leader. The Paris Hilton of conservatives.

I’ll take Michele Bachmann instead, a proven principled leader and fighter who is serious about changing government and isn’t in it for personal glory.

Wrong. Completely irrelevant. For Romney, there is only one word: Liberal.

Welcome to FR. Not an auspicious beginning though. Pablo is watching.

It won’t split the party. If Romney wins, Palin will endorse him and everyone on herewill do exactly what she says. If Palin wins, she will pick a RINO VP and that will give the RINOs peace of mind to vote for her.

I think you read the mood of conservatives and history very wrong.

First off when rino's win the nomination...Bush I after proving he was a rino his first term, Dole, McCain....They lose the fight. Our base stays home and does not vote for wishy-washy republicans...and Romney is a mormon and has been pro-choice(forget the Christians who vote morals)...has Romney care hanging around his neck...big tax and spender and not pro gun...

So Romney has even less to bring the base to the polls and sticking a conservative behind him to try and pacify the base, even a pretty one, after just doing the same for McCain who had less baggage...you can forget it...not a second time in a row...the base does not hold their nose and vote Romney they stay home!

Only a very stupid group of people who want to lose continue to push Romney as the front runner....they are a group of people who do not mind losing to the dems if they do not get their way.

The reason for the Tea Party! The reason the republicans will split if they are not careful... people have had enough..Not that the dems are in better shape within their party.

So, Sarah’s dumb and RINO Romney’s a mormon.

Is that what you signed up to say, N00b?

Say what? Then why did you even bring up religion in the first place? Hmmmm.

For your FR initiation test, please summarize, in one hundred words or less, what is a REAL republican to you?

Pablo votes: IBTZ.

Welcome to Free Republic. One thing you can be sure of around here is that people will challenge your views, especially if you say something that might be seen as disparaging to a certain high profile grandmother. You are correct that there is a large portion of the population that will not vote for a Mormon, but there is an even larger one that will not vote for a man with no principles such as Mitt Romney. We have a very, shall we say, ‘spirited’ religious forum but it is strictly for experts. They chew up newcomers pretty quick unless you know your theology.

Anyway, welcome once again and good luck. Until you've got a bit of a posting history, like 5 years or so, I'd recommend wording your responses carefully.

I disagree that Social Security is a welfare program. We pay a separate tax for this program

So what? We pay a separate tax for Medicaid too--another welfare program. SS was set up as a welfare program, not a retirement plan. I'm all for means testing.

I'm leaning Cain or Gary Johnson

I don't either of them will get very far. I'll look at them, but I want a winner, not a boutique candidate. And I don't like Cain's support of the "FairTax." Not sure it's a deal breaker, since it has no chance of passing, but it's not a welcome idea with me.

That's like the Democrats who are if favor of raising taxes. They can always give more of their own money to the Federal government if they choose to do so. What they really want is to take more of my money by force while they hide theirs in tax shelters.

I'll meet you halfway. If you want to choose means testing for yourself, I'm all for it. Just don't try to rob the rest of us of the benefits for which we have paid.

Given my 'druthers at age 17, I'd have preferred to have put my SS tax and its employer match into the stock market....but wait, the Dems were talking about stealing from our 401k accounts as well.

It's not welfare if you paid for it. Welfare is charity. Social Security is an earned (paid for) benefit.

Joe - I’ve been saying that on here for months and months. They need to close the primaries and reconfigure them to move Texas, Ohio and South Caroline to the front of the line.

By the way, I’m a big Don Martin fan too. I occassionally refer to my dog Brutus as Fido Foneboneski.

zzzzzzzz....... same old boring arguement. "vote for the lessor of 2 evils, or the evilest guy wins...." I will no longer vote this way. I am voting for whomever I think is the best for the job. period.
