NEWS CORP ISSUES WEAK STATEMENT ON ROGER AILES: Judith Regan's New Story Is That Roger Ailes Did Not Tell Her To Lie

Now that there's a rumor going around that FOX boss Roger Ailes is going to be indicted for telling underling Judith Regan to lie to federal investigators, it makes sense to take a closer look at what News Corp. has said about the matter.
When the New York Times broke the story last week that Judith Regan had accused Ailes of this--and had a recording of the telephone call to prove it--News Corp. did not deny that it was Ailes on the tape.
Instead, News Corp said the following:
[T]he spokeswoman, Teri Everett, said News Corporation had a letter from Ms. Regan stating that Mr. Ailes did not intend to influence her with respect to a government investigation. Ms. Everett added, The matter is closed.
Now, that's a very interesting statement.
Note what it does NOT say: It does not say that Roger Ailes did NOT tell Judith Regan to lie to the feds.
Instead, it says that News Corp. now has a letter from Judith Regan saying that Roger Ailes "did not intend to [tell her to lie]."
In other words, News Corp itself did not take a public position on what Roger Ailes did or didn't do. It is keeping its options open.

And why might News Corp have a letter from Judith Regan stating that Roger Ailes didn't intend to tell her to lie to the Feds? It might have such a letter because, back when Judith Regan was suing News Corp, Judith Regan told News Corp she had a tape of the telephone call.

Time for everyone to stand up and PUSH BACK!
Im confused on this story. Why were investigators asking Regan anything? lie about what?
Attacking conservatism is nothing new!
huh? What is alleged to have been lied about?
I don't know, and don't really care. This is some kind of mind game being played between factions of the media elite, with other games going on inside this game.
Roger Ailes is as much a part of it as is Katie Couric or Sean McManus. They're all part of the same organism, and play by the same rules. Which have nothing at all to do with the rules ordinary people play by, nothing to do with rules based on the concept of "right" and "wrong."
It had to do with Bernard Kerik. She was having an affair with him (he’s married.) If he got soiled, the idea was it would hurt Rudy Guiliani’s political fortunes, so allegedly Ailes tried to get Regan to lie about it, and it’s being reported she has the conversation on tape.
So the crime is lying to the investigators like Clinton did. right?
Last week it was revealed that legendary FOX News boss Roger Ailes allegedly told underling Judith Regan to lie to federal investigators to protect Rudy Giuliani.
Regan reportedly has a tape of the telephone call in which Ailes urged her to do this. If this story is true, and the telephone call is clear, Ailes would obviously be exposed to obstruction-of-justice charges.

See how these SOB's operate. What they've managed to do is to slander Fox News.
They have managed to get the words, lies, Fox News, indictment, fraud, Roger Ailes, conservative news and etc into the same headline.
The impession that the quick headlines reader gets is that Fox News has been caught lying. That is the intent of the liberals, you know, with Faux News and all.
Fox ought to sue these POS's out of existance.
Okay, then it WAS just about sex.
My guess is that Regan was talking to Ailes about inquiries that she was receiving from various sources, mostly in the media, about her relationship with Kerik and that Ailes told her not to discuss her personal relationship, not exactly lying, but not exactly telling the truth. Federal investigators would be a different matter.
With Ailes it would be trying to get someone else to lie in a situation similar to Clinton. I'm not up on the law, what the crime would be for him to have done that, etc, but that's what is being alleged. He wanted Regan to lie to fed. prosecutors, to hide the affair, because it would, by proxy, harm Guliani if it came out that Kerik was having an affair with Regan (using an apt. that was supposed to be used for ground zero workers!).
It'd be disappointing if Ailes ends up being that kind of typical high-powered scumbag. If she taped it, we'll know for sure. They are saying her taped call is Ailes' "blue dress." And all for Guiliani? Jeez.
Your guess or your hope?
I don't know what the significance of the affair was to the fed. investigation. For Ailes, if the allegation is true, it was about protecting Rudy Guiliani.
“So the crime is lying to the investigators like Clinton did. right?”
Yes, but Ailes did not lie. Regan lied, now she wants to blame Ailes. You can’t force anyone to lie. It is your own personal choice.
Why would the federal government have been investigating/questioning either Regan or Kerik back when Guiliani was considered a presidential hopeful?
It's not like they were being paid to collect bogus registrations or hanging out in front of voting stations waving billy clubs at little old ladies...oh, never-mind.
If so, that means she planned on lying all along.
The whole thing sounds like tabloid bullsh!t.
Sue me Judy, I'll be famous.
