A veteran politician Rahm Emanuel named to his mayoral transition team resigned her high-level state job last summer and paid a fine for conducting political business on state time, according to a newly filed ethics report.
Judy Erwin, a co-chair of Emanuel's mayoral campaign, said late Friday night that she would resign her new post on his transition team after the Tribune contacted her and the campaign. She said she hadn't informed Emanuel of the ethics violation.

After Chicago decided to ignore their own law by letting him run can you really blame him for thinking that?
If this nation EVER elects ANYONE from that political cesspool known as ILLINOIS, we deserve whateverthehell happens to us.
Whatever happened to Rezko and Blago ?
I’m wondering about this development.
I had the impression that the Gay Blade Rohm jumped ship when our Marxian Mook lost the House in the last election. I speculated that Rohm realized by then that association with ‘bam would be a severe liability in his political future. I wondered if enmity had developed between Rohm and others in ‘bam’s white house. I speculated that Rohm’s bolt was a pragmatic decision, growing out of some realization that ‘bam and associates had become too radical even for him.
Now I wonder if he departed with ‘bams blessings, or even at his behest. Considering the way he waltzed into office, I now suspect that he was on an errand to secure and maintain the base and guard ‘bam’s official history. Discovery of contradictory or embarrassing details could destroy ‘bam’s prospects, even open him to prosecution.
Of course it could be both.
and electing another crook to office to grab tax money....
“....Erwin, the former executive director of the Illinois Board of Higher Education, admitted using her office e-mail and phone while working on a campaign committee for presidential candidate Barack Obama, using staff resources to plan her trip to the 2008 Democratic National Convention and engaging in campaign fundraising activity while on the job, the state’s Executive Ethics Commission ruled in a decision filed Feb. 16.
The ethics commission said she cooperated with the investigation by the executive inspector general, reimbursed the state, agreed to pay a $4,000 fine and promised to never work for the state again. She resigned Aug. 15....”
Rahm’s chances of making it to the WH are -1 to infinity.
"The atmosphere for IBHE employees must have been heavily colored by Ms. Erwin's political activity on the job," the ethics board said. It found "particularly troubling" her explanation that she made a campaign contribution to a state representative who was the chairman of the higher education appropriations committee: "This suggests that she was responding to a real or imagined pay to play incentive within state government."
Nor do the Republicans, except those that are Tea Party members.
First they should try a real Republican. NYC failed there.
Getting paid by the state to run a political campaign! It’s good to be the king!
We're just helping his current crisis along ~ wouldn't do to waste it now, would it?
We should always be there in his times of crisis -> ALL of them.
Here’s an update on Blago

This corrupt DIM has no worries. She will be appointed as some sort of behind the scenes advisor or Czar role in Chicago. Chicago voters deserve what they asked for. Boycott the city. Starve the beast.
Double Entendre’....
They hired Lewinsky?!
Sesquicentennial for some people sayin' that.
You do remember Obama saying that any leader who orders troops to attack citizens needs to go, yes? For some of us, words have consequences.
