A 14-month-old girl spent hours trapped inside a Conyers bank vault Friday evening after wandering off from her mother and grandmother, an employee at the Wells Fargo branch.
What followed was a scene from a summer blockbuster, as bank officials and first responders worked feverishly to locate a locksmith trained to open the vault, which was set on a time-released lock, according to Conyers Police Chief Gene Wilson.

Why?
Children under 6 should be kept on leashes at all times except in designated play areas.
This was always my biggest fear when I worked in banking. We had a vent that could be open and food and water could be passed in as well as air.
The child’s family should be made to pay for the job as well as the bank’s cost of repairing the vault.
EXACTLY what I was thinking: it isn’t a terrible thing at all and can save your baby’s life. Not to mention preventing havoc.
Why? because the bank was closing. So somebody closed the vault door. What’s the mystery?
Babys “soiled” diaper was later found to be filled with 8 packs of 100 dollar bills. Midget an circus “Mom” in custody....
Film at eleven......:o)
Stay Safe !
What you mean they are not just incompetent with my mortgage?

Sigh. When my babies were that old, they were in a stroller or I was hanging onto them for dear life. I still hold my 6-year-old’s hand every time we cross streets and such. My 9-year-old’s, too.
I understand your logic but a mother and grandmother are frantically looking for a toddler in a bank: “Has anyone seen our baby?” and someone just closes the vault without checking?
Whahappun? I just don’t understand your post.
Most localities will cite you if you leave an appliance with a door open on the curb in which a child could be trapped inside. The manuals that come with new refrigerators, ovens, etc. recommend that the shelves be left in the old ones to reduce this danger. Why can’t these vaults be fitted with shelves to make them more kidproof (less room for a curious kid to squeeze in).
This was a big walk-in vault. Where they keep the safety deposit boxes and such.
The "mystery" is that they knew she was missing - so what possessed that employee to close the vault door when everyone was looking for her. What a stupido!
The person closing the vault door may not have even been within earshot of a person asking where their child was.
Whoops - I’d better make that clear - I was calling the bank employee a stupido - not you.
Have you ever been inside a bank’s vault? The bank’s customers have their depositors boxes located there in the vault. It is a walk-in room with security lock boxes lining all the walls.
