resident Barack Obama seems to have fallen short on economic and immigration promises he made to Latino voters before he was elected.
Still, his approval ratings among Latino voters increased to 70 percent after falling as low as 57 percent in June 2010 in a Gallup poll, according to La Opinión.
The Spanish-language newspaper cited a poll conducted by its parent company ImpreMedia and Latino Decisions, a research group that focuses on issues facing Latinos.
In 2008, Obama garnered 67 percent of the Latino votes, according to La Opinión. The same poll also concluded that Latino voters would not automatically vote for Obama. Only about 43 percent said they would vote for him next year.
"There is no doubt that Obama has the ability to win the Latino vote, and he still has solid support within the community,'' Matt Barreto, a political science professor at the University of Washington, told La Opinión. "But when it comes to whether they will vote for him for sure, Latinos show a margin of doubt."
Barreto is also a pollster for Latino Decisions.

A double warning to Mexican-American voters.
1) Minorities that give monolithic support to one political party get nothing out of the deal.
2) If you want your children to live a better life, you and they will have to earn it. Promises that it will be given to you on a platter are lies. So it is best to support those in favor of letting you and your children profit from your hard work, instead of taking it away, and giving you empty promises.
Yes illegals are a strong segment of the Baraqqi coalition.
That’s why it’s important to push stringent voter ID.
Response: Of course they support him.
Comment: He is helping them flood across the border and is keeping the cash flowing. Reconquista!
Lets hope we can stop the Commies here in the USA.
now what we warned of has crippled what used to be an adequate block of indigenous voters (52%) and now takes 57-58% to elect conservatives nationwide
a tall order
getting that many non Hispanic whites to vote one way doesn't happen much..it did last November
now the harpies are gone...mostly...a few have drifted back and the forum no longer supports amnesty in any form I'm aware of
and I sure don't feel the least bit satisfied being right
young folks can remember when I am long gone that we lost our country due to voluntary demographic shifts between the mid 1960s till today
it will be very difficult to turn around
this demographic shift combined with fewer and fewer nuclear families and more and more on the government payroll will take a cataclysm to correct
my parents and grandparents could easily recognize the America they were born into still vibrant as they aged.
not so for us...I'm 53
I'm sorry kids. I did not do this. My grandparents generation and even the New Dealers before them got the ball rolling.
I first noticed these dangers in the mid 80s but few dared speak out. Even today it's risky.
I agree, it is a major problem. Many seem not to understand this though. The root of it is, there simply aren't enough white voters moving to the GOP fast enough to offset the Democrats massive advantage with minorities.
The good news is we've begun electing some really good Latino leaders who may really make an impact going forward. People like Florida's Macro Rubio and New Mexico's new governor Susana Martinez are excellent additions to the conservative cause and both have a bright future in the party. We will just need to keep recruiting solid conservative minorities and provide them a ton of support in their election efforts.
There is no debate on whether latinos support democrats in majority numbers.
Only exception to that are older Cubans and Mexicans in Texas voted Bush in 2000 by a slim margin.
The truth ain’t a card.
It’s a card when it’s played to deflect from the truth.
Is that what you just did or did I misunderstand you.
In other news, sea otters increasingly enjoy abalone.
The Spanish-language newspaper? Are they to lazy or to stupid to learn english?.
latino = illegal aliens
hispanic = legal immigrants
telemundo = univision = msnbc
Republicans need a way of effectively splitting Hispanic voters from the Democrat party WITHOUT destroying the Republican party like Bush and McCain did with amnesty.
One issue that might have legs is Obama on DOMA. Ask Hispanics if they want Obama to pay homosexual (married) couples Federal benefits with their tax money, with SS and medicare broke. And target the ads in those areas.
But Republicans likely wont because mostly RINOs run in those areas.
Makes no difference to leeches. They get free food and most of them only need gas to see their buds not work.
Is that what you just did or did I misunderstand you.
??????????
So much for the myth of Latino conservatism and family values. Their culture everywhere has a something-for-nothing mindset. Think not? How many Latino countries can you name that is a political and economic success? How many of those countries would you want to live in? The fact that so many Latinos sneak into our country is evidence of their cultural failure.
In general, Hispanics vote for the party that promises them Other People’s Money, and puts them at the head of the line for jobs, college, and government grants.
Exactly!
“Poll: Latino voters increasingly support Obama”
Now there’s a shocker!!! NOT
