GREEN BAY - Charles Woodson has become the latest Green Bay Packer to lend his support to state union employees.
The cornerback said Sunday he's honored to stand with working families of Wisconsin and organized labor.
Tens of thousands of people have been protesting a measure by Republican Gov. Scott Walker that would end collective bargaining rights for nearly all public employees.
Woodson says hardworking people including teachers and nurses are under ``an unprecedented attack'' to take away their basic rights. He says as a member of the NFL Players Association he's proud to stand with them.
He joins seven former and current Packer players who expressed their support for state union employees last week. They were Brady Poppinga, Jason Spitz, Curtis Fuller, Chris Jacke, Charles Jordan, Bob Long and Steve Okoniewski.
Well, so much for my ever supporting the Packers again.
And why not? NFL players are little more than overpaid government employees who belong to a union.
“Well, so much for my ever supporting the Packers again.”
Well, then you can always support one of those NFL Teams that has no players that belong to a union.
Who? Why should I care more about his opinion than any other voter? I doubt he could even have an intelligent conversation on the issue.
I guess the Green Bay Packers are now Green Pay Backers (pay to the screechers’ unions, that is).
You gotta love it when the millionair, working-man atheletess chime-in with their untold wisdom!!
I’ve yet to hear one professional athelete utter one important phrase—and I’m a big sports fan!
I know that the Packers are collectively owned, but there must be some players on the other side of this debate.
That’s OK Charles Woodson.
I prefer watching Div 3 college football than watching the NFL.
Enjoy the 2011-2012 lockout...Couldn’t happen to a nicer group of men.
LOL nothing but a over paid fool,Bet he voted for the Kenyan as well.
Useful idiots. At least the beat the Rooney Steelers
Just one more reason to dislike the Packers.
What ever dude.... take your millions of $s and run along to a 5-star luxury resort and play some XBOX 360 or Sony PS3.
Thanks for reminding me that professional players unions should be disbanded too.
Once they beat the hated Steelers, I really had no more use for these Cheeseheads any longer.
Charles will be cut this year. Not for this but they won’t pay him what he thinks he is worth.
Woodson is idiot. Let the Packers know do not reup his contract, put him out to pasture. too many packer backers will turn their backs on woodson.
