I was thinking of taking my granddaughters on a camping trip near the Mexican border.

What could go wrong?

Missionaries go to a lot of dangerous places.

They were actually out in the Indian Ocean - these pirates range as far as 600 miles away from their nests.

But it doesn’t matter why the sailors were there. We cannot simply declare a part of the sea to be off-limits to all except Muslim pirates. Piracy can paralyze trade and entire economies, even if you don’t care about the human cost.

Also, the message must go out: mess with US citizens, get dead. But that’s not going to happen with this president. Somebody on another thread suggested putting out a false rumor that these people were SEIU members - that might have gotten his attention.

If we start treating the open sea like some pirate’s personal fiefdom and condemning Americans who sail the open sea as being stupid and wrong, think of what freedoms we give up

Where next to tell American sailors to avoid? Coasts of Central and South America? Coast of Asia? Java Sea? Carribbean?

Distributing Bibles.

It's difficult imagining anything more dangerous in an islamist country/area.

I too do not honestly understand their lack of common sense (brains).

They are like those who continue to travel to Mexico in spite of all the warnings…Or: “No, don’t put you hand on that hot stove” and they do it anyway.

One article I read is that they were distributing Bibles or something religious.

Distributing religious things does not immune anybody from anything...only good sense saves lives.

What were their parents thinking in agreeing to this trip?

Maybe they were idiot thrill seekers? Doesn’t mean they deserve to be hijack, (probably) tortured, and killed.

It’s like blaming a crying child for the ‘parent’ beating the hell out of them.

Or blaming a rape victim because they were in the wrong part of town.

Blame the murdering scum who did the crime - not the victims.
