But our anti-american -resident has shut down Gulf drilling, and his zealots in the EPA and trying to do the same for oil and gas drilling in the shale of the mid-west and Texas. They want Americans to suffer so we can be herded onto their trains and taken where they want us to go. It’s been done before by a government who wanted total control in building the ideal society.

In the past, OPEC has been rather insensitive to keeping oil prices low. After all, the demand for oil seems pretty inelastic (i.e., the percentage drop in quantity purchased in less than the percentage increase in price) so why should they care? However, I think they are finding that it's in their long run interest to keep oil prices "reasonable" as higher oil prices stimulate high-cost oil production (e.g., tar sands, fracturing, etc.) and alternative fuels. My guess: I think the spot price for oil will continue to spike, but will eventually fall back to the mid-$70 range...just a feeling.

A lot of folks can’t understand how we came to have an oil shortage here in our country.
~~~
Well, there’s a very simple answer.
~~~
Nobody bothered to check the oil.
~~~
We just didn’t know we were getting low.
~~~
The reason for that is purely geographical.
~~~
Our OIL is located in:
~~~
Alaska
~~~
California
~~~
Coastal Florida
~~~
Coastal Louisiana
~~~
North Dakota
~~~
Wyoming
~~~
Colorado
~~~
Kansas
~~~
Oklahoma
~~~
Pennsylvania
And
Texas
~~~
Our dipsticks are located in DC............

OPEC is afraid that they may loose their grip and are getting what they can now.

OPEC is an illegal cartel. I have never understood why we allow them to exist.

****The last time the oil price lost all sense of gravity, as it threatens to again with the price of Brent crude now well north of $100 a barrel, ****

And at that time we were yelling,”Drill NOW”! And the reply from the greenie faint hearts was that if we drill now it will take five years before any oil comes to market!

Well, If we had drilled that oil would be on the market NOW!

Brent oil crude is now at $106 a barrel while West Texas just went over $90. Both up about $5 in the past few days.

“The problem is not how high that gas prices have risen, but that they went up too fast. I think that I would have preferred a gradual adjustment.” B. Obama on $4.50/gallon gas prices.

“We can’t drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times … and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK,” B. Obama.

Obama wants this and his policies are pushing for this.

"...it helped tip the world economy into the deepest recession since the 1930s."

Too much central, global planning did that--not fuel prices. There should be a manufacturing plant in every neighborhood.
