VAIL — Michelle Obama had at least five options for weekend destinations, but insisted on Vail, sources told the Vail Daily.
The first lady and her daughters were among those who packed up and headed for home Monday, closing out a busy Presidents Day weekend in the Vail Valley.
Michelle Obama's press secretary issued a statement Saturday that the family is picking up the tab for personal expenses.
Sources say that because Obama was largely paying her own way, she insisted on the final say.

If they truly paid for ALL the expenses, I wouldn’t fault them for the trip. But somehow I doubt she’s paying for a charter flight comparable to AF1, secret service details, armored limos, etc.
They should patent that bullshit.

On top her 24/7 press coverage, I have to also pay for her TP.
Who paid for all the secret service and their expenses? Couldn't ski closer to home? Had to go to Vail halfway across the country which is one of the most expensive areas in the country. So much for Berry feeling our pain last week talking about " families putting off vacations." We paid for this folks...again.
Whew all that work she really should think about a vacation. It’s been awhile you know.
Yep, just like Aunt Nancy flying that 757 around the country. Thank G-d they can’t get one of those into Aspen or Telluride. Then again, there is a drop off into a canyon at the end of the runway at TEX or a mountain you have to watch out for at ASE.
Glad she didn’t show up at Beaver Creek! What a royal pain in the butt that would have been! The kids are a different story. They are just kids in a bubble and want to have fun.
