6:52pm: The Libyan ambassador to the United Kingdom has resigned, alongside other embassy staff. They have joined demonstrators, Al Jazeera’s correspondent reported.
6:46pm: Al Jazeera, alonside specialist technical investigators, have pinpointed the source of its signal blockage to a Libyan intelligence agency building, south of the capital Tripoli. The network’s website has also been blocked in the country, with Libyan users getting the message: “File does not exist” when they try to access it.

I’m going to ask a dumb question. This is not necessarily directed at you TomGuy, but your post fit it the best.
I’m probably going to be flamed for this but I’ll try anyway.
Could this be the fruits of Bush’s policy ideas. I know I heard somewhere, at the beginning of the Iraq war, the statement was made that “if we were able to establish a democratic government in Iraq, that the rest of the Middle Eastern countries could also move towards that goal” (paraphrased). I think Iran is trying to move away from “ineedadinnerjacket”, and we have supported that (not the idiot in the WH), but couldn’t it be that the rest of these countries have seen it can be done, and have gotten the taste for Freedom?
Obviously, it will not be the Representative Republic, that we have here, Iraq is not the utopia we hoped for, but they, and Afghanistan are continuing to struggle towards that goal.
Is this concept possible, or am I being naive?

The Bad guys won in '08, but they usually don't. With a couple of significant exceptions (BO being one of them), America is usually smart enough to sniff out the legitimately bad actors.
Now, "Dumb" is a whole 'nother story. But, as my Dad said just this weekend.... "If someone is smart enough to be a good politician, then they're smart enough to know better than to be one."
Because the MSM gets a free pass.
Under normal circumstances, this story would elicit from me a comment to the effect - “You’ve got to be kidding me”...

A key U.S. official landed in Cairo on Monday to meet with military leaders and discuss the extra aid promised by Washington to help Egypt with its democratic transition. Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs William Burns arrived days after Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton announced Egypt would be receiving an extra $150 million to help with the political transition. The $1.5 billion in foreign aid the U.S. gives annually to Egypt, which is unchanged in the State Department’s budget.
