REPLY BRIEF IN SUPPORT OF PLAINTIFFS MOTION FOR SUMMARY JUDGMENT AND IN OPPOSITION TO DEFENDANTS CROSS-MOTION TO DISMISS.....
(Excerpt) Read more at saf.org ...
TOPICS: Activism/Chapters; Constitution/Conservatism; News/Current Events; US: New Jersey
KEYWORDS: banglist; saf
This is huge for the citizens (currently subjects) of the State of NJ. It was predictable that NJ would file a motion to dismiss. As a result, the SAF basically destroyed and emasculated every argument set forth by State. It is 62 pages, but well worth the read.

Any sign of the NRA in this one?

Any sign of the NRA in this one? NRA has been AWOL in NJ for 25 years. They prefer to watch ANJRPC do the heavy lifting. Fortunately, the SAF doesn't abandon concerned citizens based on geography or self-interest.

For those who don’t want to read the whole thing it challenges the current NJ law that allows permits to be witheld at the whim of government bureaucrats.

... Christie ... No and there won't be unless he opposes it. He may be fiscally conservative (for NJ) but every indication I've seen has him thoroughly in the liberal camp on non-governmental ownership of firearms

—the NRA isn’t so much AWOL as realistic—they could dump their entire budget in any of four black holes,-— California, Illinois, New York or New Jersey with nothing to show for it—reform will have to be generated internally in those states-—

This thread has just added to the
FreeRepublic "bang list" (firearms interest list) by adding the keyword "banglist".
Any time a firearms-related thread is created on FreeRepublic, please be sure to add the "banglist" keyword to it so that interested FReepers don't miss it. Just a suggestion.

the NRA isnt so much AWOL as realisticthey could dump their entire budget in any of four black holes,- California, Illinois, New York or New Jersey with nothing to show for itreform will have to be generated internally in those states-I see your point and I certainly don't dispute the logic. But it's a curious question as to why they continue to press for donations from the members of those states that according to your argument - have been "written-off".
I've been a NJ resident my entire life and an NRA member since 1976. Paying my NRA dues and watching them turn their back on NJ over and over is starting to piss me off.

—about all I can say is tell the NRA that—donations are voluntary—and you New Jerseyites have a tough row to hoe—
—the NRA , having to work in the realistic world of Congress and state legislatures ( and court decisions) doesn’t get into fights that are are unwinnable nor do they jump right in with every Second Amendment lawsuit as adverse court decisions have a way of becoming permanent-—
