Jonathan Perry (R) Wins District 26 Senate Seat (GOP wins control of Louisiana State Senate)

State Representative Jonathan Perry wins a close race for the District 26 Senate seat against Nathan Granger. With all precincts reporting, Perry edges out Granger by two percentage points.

Nathan Granger (D)--49%; 9,491

Jonathon Perry (R)--51%; 10,179

First time since Reconstruction.

Republicans now control all three branches of government. Louisiana State House flipped to GOP control last month.

All the Democrats have left in the South is both branches of the Arkansas Legislature, the State Senate in Virginia, and the State House in Kentucky and Mississippi.

Democrats also have the Mississippi State House, but their advantage there is shrinking to just 9 seats now.

Granger ran some pretty slimey radio ads; glad Perry won. I’d like to think senate control was the last really bid stumbling block Jindal faced in fully implementing his agenda. We’ll see now.
