MADISON, WIS. - President Obama thrust himself and his political operation this week into Wisconsin's broiling budget battle, mobilizing opposition Thursday to a Republican bill that would curb public-worker benefits and planning similar protests in other state capitals. Obama accused Scott Walker, the state's new Republican governor, of unleashing an "assault" on unions in pushing emergency legislation that would change future collective-bargaining agreements that affect most public employees, including teachers.

The president's political machine worked in close coordination Thursday with state and national union officials to get thousands of protesters to gather in Madison and to plan similar demonstrations in other state capitals.

Did you ever see The Last Emperor? It became about dumbing down the entire population with opiates.

yes, if you get the documentary channel, they have run a couple telling how doctors in Florida and Ohio dont even practice anymore— they just dispense oxycontin. It’s all over, the drug of choice. I have the MIL’s in the freezer, took it away from her before she overdosed

The Tri-Cities is nice. Look at surrounding counties. Look at Douglas Lake or Cherokee Lake. Very conservative and hard working. You will enjoy the change from the weirdness of California.

Pain clinics are a big problem. They’re bustin’ those operators as fast as they can but new ones spring up. Some famous producer od’d on oxycontin this weekend. That stuff’s not mistake proof.

I’m surprised on the pain clinic thing.

There really aren’t that many doctors to police. I mean this is totally different from illicit drugs.

I assume after you void a drs ability to write scripts, he’s pretty much out of business?

I question why they would give an 89 yr old oxycondone. She thought she was supposed to take one every 6 minutes

it's the new crack house

the drug dealers get the office, rent a doc, and go to town.

I still don’t understand this?

It’s not easy to become a doctor.
They make good money legitimately.
Getting tabbed as a scrip pusher has to be a disaster career wise?
And there aren’t that many drs for law enforcement to keep an eye on - all the scrips are in a database.

That’s ridiculous. Are you familiar with Wesley Smith, the “good” bioethecist? He has a web site and a blog, Second Hand Smoke. He’s on top of all this nonsense.

It should void their medical license but who even knows if there’s a database for docs? I would imagine that there are MD’s and DO’s doing this - some nurse practitioners can prescribe and psychologists. Maybe there’s a larger pool of providers than we’re aware of.

it is ridiculous. First these elderly are on so many pills it’s all they can do to remember when to take them. Then they prescribe a mind altering drug on top of them? If we hadnt been around she would have overdosed and died which is what I guess they really want.

plus this is the new America, not the old one where ethics mattered. Doctors who have regular practices have overhead, insurance, taxes, etc etc etc. Unethical people just see the dollars

Starting about 15-20 years ago, college graduates went into law, or medicine or business just to make money, they no longer cared about practicing a profession, so I suppose this is the logical outcome
