The unions probably have contractual agreements with the state to hire only employees willing to be forced into joining the union. Like a closed shop, sadly.
And they call it “freedom” for the taxpayers to be forced to hire only certain people?
Somebody who commented at Gateway Pundit nailed it, said it’s really about union dues going to campaign for politicians who then get sweetheart deals for the unions. It’s political racketeering.
Sort of like Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac, the stimulus, etc which act as sluch funds for politicians who are willing to sell their power as a commodity to those willing to pay.
Sort of like the democratic campaign contributions of BP so the regulators would look the other way when they failed to keep up their blow-out preventer standards. Etc.
