MADISON, Wis. — Police officers are looking for Democratic Wisconsin lawmakers who were ordered to attend a vote on a bill that would strip public employees of collective bargaining rights.

No Democrats showed up for Thursday's Senate session, meaning a vote cannot be taken. Republicans need one Democratic senator to be present. Calls to Democratic leaders were not immediately returned.

Republicans are pushing the anti-union bill proposed by GOP Gov. Scott Walker. Thousands of people clogged the halls of the Statehouse for a third straight day in opposition.

Protesters clogged the hallways of the Wisconsin state Capitol on Thursday as the Senate prepared to pass a momentous bill that would strip government workers, including school teachers, of nearly all collective bargaining rights.

Now is the time to stop it. Don’t let any of them go back to work.

It is now time to start proceedings to impeach Obama. We need to do this.

No, they don’t have enough member present to even vote. They *have* the votes...if it’s held.

I don’t know what collective bargaining really does to help salary anyway.

I make more as a teacher in a small school in Texas (no bargaining) than I did in the biggest school district in Kansas (with collective bargaining).

It doesn’t do any good anyway apparently and just hurts the workers.

Not a good idea. That is what odirtbag wants. He is itching for a conflict so he can clamp down on good American citizens (read Tea Party). Let’s not ever give him an excuse. Wait until the thugs go home, then organize a massive peaceful Tea Party rally in support of the Republican legislature. Make their rentamob look like a dodo bird picnic. We have to find legal ways to do away with unions, one mobster at a time. A start is to vote out dimocRats.

IIRC, the Wisconsin senate has 33 members; 19 Republicans and 14 Democrats.
The number of senators needed for a quorum (to be able to vote) = 20
All Republicans are there and want to vote (most likely to all vote Yes)
Votes needed to pass, either 1/2 of all members (17) or 1/2 of those present and voting.
Either way, Republicans do have enough votes to pass, they just need an additional ‘body’ to enable them to vote.

I don’t know what the voting requirements are if the Governor calls a “special session”.

Someone with some balls ought to block these traitors from entering the capitol building again. They should all be removed from government immediately.

Good gawd!
I’m wondering how many employees some of these managers and administrators are in charge of, kinda like the Bell, CA police chief who made a salary comparable to Chicago or better...he had well under 50 officers.

Easy there hoss.

A quorum is required by Wisconsin law, meaning 20. There are 19 Republicans. Even if there were 10 Republicans and 9 Democrats, it wouldn’t matter, you still need 20 and that is one more than what the Republicans have.
