Dateline Egypt:
[60 Minutes] correspondent Lara Logan was repeatedly sexually assaulted by thugs yelling, Jew! Jew! as she covered the chaotic fall of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak in Cairos main square Friday.
Powerful reporting on an important story. Two problems: It didnt run until yesterday, and CBS didnt run it. The quote is from the New York Post. And it was The Wall Street Journal that reported the separation and assault lasted roughly 20 to 30 minutes.
But CBS? They sat on their own story. For five days, as reporters reveled amid giddy celebrations in Tahrir Square, and as President Obama praised President Obamas handling of the Egyptian crisis, CBS reported nothing.
Only when other media had the story did CBS break the news that its own chief foreign correspondent was the victim of a brutal and sustained sexual assault.
Five days of silence not even 60 Minutes coverage of the Egypt story. No mention of the mob of more than 200 people whipped into frenzy who attacked their own reporter.
How is that not news?

Having 200 good guys gang assault a female reporter while screaming Jew! Jew! doesnt fit the narrative. Is that why CBS sat on the story?
Or is it the cultural issue? A rape in a bar is a sex crime. But a pack of political protesters who rape a Jew in public is a story about culture.

Isn’t this normal behavior for these savages? They got her out of there so she wouldn’t get the 100 lashes for being assaulted.
Here are two links in which it is claimed Ms. Logan was, “repeatedly raped.”

There are some good Egyptians but, what I’m seeing on the whole is, most of them are rabid nut jobs.
There are so many things wrong with this, it’s hard to know where to begin.
First off, people need to know that this has been in the news so stop saying they are all ignoring it. CBS covered it first and other groups have been reporting it as well. Anderson Cooper just did a report where another reporter was trying to excuse off the story saying that she is just doing this to get attention. Cooper blasted him for it for ten straight minutes.
You all also need to know that Logan knew of the dangers she faced. She has been to Egypt before and many middle eastern countries despite the dangers. CBS was not forcing her to go there. She insisted on going because she wanted to show women could do it. Even after her arrest in Egypt, she insisted on remaining there until the story was don. This was said in the news reports about it. If I was CBS I would have still refused, but maybe they felt in a tight spot that they would also get in trouble for discrimination if they said no, I don’t know.
Regardless, this about sums up why the MSM has been quiet. The immediate statement from the family is that they want privacy in this matter. That, in my opinion, is why I think the news is trying to be quiet about it. I sure as heck wouldn’t be quiet, but I do think that is why they are.
Finally, until it’s been confirmed it was rape, I’ll try to keep my cool, but regardless, I do agree with all of you that I’d say certain people need killin’. It is hard to believe that 30 minutes would only be groping. I guess I also don’t understand what the situation was like because how did it take the camera crews 30 minutes to reconnect with her? Screw the expensive camera, I would have been swinging that in people’s faces to get back to her. This is a really unfortunate situation and I wish for justice like anyone else, but lay off the MSM a little on this one. There was more to all this.
“Bill Clinton taught us that you get one free grope before it is harassment and the feminists agreed.”
Actually, Bill Clinton also taught us you get two free rapes so long as they happened a long time ago before being brought to light. He taught us that felony perjury before a federal grand jury is OK so long as it’s only about sex etc. In short, he taught us many things that made me feel ashamed to be an American while he was our president.
Of course she is to blame. She put herself in public, as a Westerner in the midst of an ME country during a revolution.
She learned the hard way and got off easy.
Don't blame it on the locals.
I’m trying to recall the female CBS correspondent in Iraq who took an IED to the head. Was it Rita Braver? It would be an interesting contrast to recall the news coverage about Logan to the coverage about Braver or whomever it was that was wounded in Iraq. I wonder how that reporter is doing these days and whether it was worth it for her to get the “story”?
I remember watching a TV magazine, 20/20, iirc, doing a story on the sinking of a ferry in Indonesia. It was a typical story of horrific third world safety standards and all that. The really odd part of the story was the account of one of the survivors, a young American woman. Most of the victims could not swim and quickly drowned. She was wearing a light cotton dress because of the tropical heat and managed to tread water after the sinking. She swam towards another survivor, an Indonesia man clinging to some debris. She intented to share his improvised life perserver and plan their next step. As soon as she got within reach (you guessed it!) he began to grope her. He could not convince her to concentrate on survival, so she swam away and looked for other means of survival. (In the event, she assisted an Indonesian woman and child.) Fortunately, her assailant did not survive.
What is it with Muslim men? Do they only act this way towards Western women?
Obviously she is not to blame. However, it was not wise for her to go to the middle of a potential riot scene in a low cut blouse with pearls. It’s not like she was covering the Kentucky Derby or a charity ball in Palm Beach.
“...has anyone considered for a moment, that the lady didn’t WANT it reported?...”
But CBS advocates women reporting such assaults even if details are witheld. The real reason it was not a top CBS story is because the network was unwilling to stand up and say the Emperor has no clothes.
In this case the Emperor is Mohammed that there is a problem with the Koran, Mohammed as an example, and Islamic “culture” that teaches hatred of independent women, Christians, Jews, and anyone-other-than-Muslims.
“Mens primary duty is to protect women. This is an EPIC failure.”
I’m sure the beauties at N.O.W. would disagree
If it can’t be twisted into an attack on Palin or the Tea Party, it just isn’t news.
They saw a pretty white girl from a wealthy country. They wanted her so that they could inflict revenge for their own worthlessness. So they made up an excuse that gave them cover.
Kimberly Dozier.
“has anyone considered for a moment, that the lady didnt WANT it reported?...
good point.
but it is still a very important story about that society.
200 men ??
Indeed it is a HUGE story and says something about the nature of mobs.. and the nature of those disgusting men in that country and part of the world, and their horrible sick values, and finally, their repressed sexuality.
I have not been able to ascertain from the few details reported whether Ms. Logan was raped or not. All reports state 'sexual assault'.
MICHAEL GRAHAM RULES!!
