Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.) will reveal that he was a victim of sexual abuse as a child during an interview set to air on Sunday.
Brown, in an interview previewing his forthcoming book, told "60 Minutes" that he suffered sexual abuse "several times" by a camp counselor when he was 10 years old, and was the victim of physical abuse by a stepfather.
Brown said in the interview, set to air Sunday on CBS, that he hadn't even told his mother about the sexual abuse.
Thats what happens when youre a victim. Youre embarrassed. Youre hurt, he said, adding that he was threatened by his assailant. He said If you tell anybody
Ill kill you. I will make sure that nobody believes you.

Sort of like little Ronnie Reagan announcing to the world that President Reagan (may have) had Alzheimer’s while still POTUS. What a load of crap to dump out in the open...even if it were true; and I don’t believe it for a minute....just to sell books. Such a cheap shot.
Agreed. His vote is that more difficult to understand. At the same time, he deserves compassion as any victim of such devastating crime and not be mocked. A cynical attitude only prevents others from accusing their attackers.
Personally, am sick of ‘victims’ - at least ‘adult’s’ recalling their ‘child’. And now; there can be no question, that Scott is a Liberal. . .
Apparently she told someone that she was a dust bowl and great depression survivor.
Sexual predators depend on silence ...
Good one!
Your post makes no sense.
Whatever.
Looking back, I realize that one of the best teachers I ever had was most likely a paedophile. He was unusually affectionate, and even hugged and kissed us (boys) and patted our butts.
I can’t speak for others with more harrowing experiences, and I certainly sympathize with those who feel their innocence was torn from them, but I myself have no need for a psychiatrist, a lawsuit, or an in-depth memoir.
Frankly, at the time I was more interested in launching my innocence in the direction of a certain female french teacher with ebony bangs, endless white legs, and big, blue eyes!
Oh, ma chere Madame, where are you now? LOL.
Don't be OBTUSE. There's a huge chasm between "family secrets were kept secret" (that is, using discretion) and telling the whole flippin' world you were fondled as a boy camper.
This story will disappear quickly; no RC priests involved. It does make the case for the scouts banning gay scoutmasters (yes, it is homosexuality).
At an anniversary/birthday dinner party a year ago, with 6 close friends and spouses—and after some wine, the topic came up. Of the 14 of us, 8 had experienced some unwanted, unpleasant sexual being preyed on as kids. 4 were in the Catholic church; one was in Boy Scouts; one was with an extended family member; one in a Prot. church camping trip.
This sudden sharing astonished us all, but left lasting impressions. I mean, 8 out of 14 decent Christian people.
No, you just report it.
At 51 yrs old in the U.S. Senate? Keep it to yourself. This guy didn't even have the decency to tell his mother before letting it drop on 60 Minutes? Who does that?! What good does it do now, more than 40 yrs later, to tell the ENTIRE WORLD? Oh, right! He's trying to hock a book.
Can you not see my Son, that this wrong? For your penance, say 500 irregular verb conjugations, not omitting the pluperfect subjunctive.
BTW, you will never eat lunch in Quebec again. Go now, and sin no more.
Des toutes perversions sexuelles, la plus singuliere est la chasteté.
Exactly when did dignity die?
Being vigilant and being THERE as a parent is essential, and even that is sometimes not enough.
Making sure your child is emotionally STRONG is also essential.
They prey upon the fatherless, the troubled, the disaffected who chew on their fingers or hair, the self mutilators who cut their flesh - they know the signs of those who are too weak to resist and too weak to come forward.
” I remember my grandmother (dust bowl AND great depression survivor) saying, nobody wants to hear about your problems.
Apparently she told someone that she was a dust bowl and great depression survivor.”
Actually no. She had a younger sister however that went on about it constantly. Strangely enough, when we did the math we realized our aunt was an infant during this time and couldn’t possibly have had the memories she claimed to. When I was older I became more interested in the subject and questioned my grandmother about it many times. I could not get a word out of her about it, other than, “nobody wants to hear about old problems.”
Always thought that Brown kid was a bit confused on which side of the lake he belonged. ;)
But Senator Kennedy is dead!
Save it for Oprah
