On Friday February 11, the day Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak stepped down, CBS correspondent Lara Logan was covering the jubilation in Tahrir Square for a 60 MINUTES story when she and her team and their security were surrounded by a dangerous element amidst the celebration. It was a mob of more than 200 people whipped into frenzy.
In the crush of the mob, she was separated from her crew. She was surrounded and suffered a brutal and sustained sexual assault and beating before being saved by a group of women and an estimated 20 Egyptian soldiers. She reconnected with the CBS team, returned to her hotel and returned to the United States on the first flight the next morning. She is currently in the hospital recovering.

This story has none of the good times feel that came with Anderson Cooper being slapped about like a house servant.

CBS is already trying to spin this as an aberration -— “wild element” -— instead of the true face of islam turned lose on the world.
This is horrible and sad and I am very sorry she went through this. Thank G-d she is alive.
I do NOT want to blame her but I blame her bosses: I was told before landing in Egypt (or any middle east country) to dress covered and modest, not hijab, but just modest from collarbone to lower legs. She was not dressed this way, and as a fellow blonde, you get a LOT of unwanted attention anyway even if you are dressed appropriately. I am not sure she was the right reporter for the job. Political correctness ruled over her safety. It’s like not wading through the shark tank with a bleeding wound.
Again, I am not blaming her but her bosses who put her in this predicament.
We will see her demeanor towards tolerance and appeasement towards savages if she returns to the air.
Prayers for this reporter and her family.
I thought these were freedom fighters, just looking for jobs and to create a Democracy?
