(New York, NY) -- A New York City law that mandated calorie information be displayed in fast food restaurants has had little effect. A New York University study found the labels don't really influence food choice.
Researchers say ten-percent of those polled before the law went into effect noticed calorie labeling in restaurants. While awareness surged to about half after the signs went up, only about a quarter of those who saw the signs said it mattered to them.
The reason for the policy was that if you had more information you would make better choices.
Researchers say they may be looking for the next obesity cure.

Federally issued duct tape?
Same deal on packs of smokes....”smoking can cause cancer” doesn’t decrease the sell of smokes either. I guess its shocking that folks wake up after suggesting this and finding out that information doesn’t change things.
I mean, look how much information there is about the failures of socialism, and that doesn’t seem to stop the juggernaut in this country, does it.
We should use this as an example to a liberal when trying to explain why we don't need more labeling like this.
Maybe labeling like this would work if we went up to the counter and said “I’d like 436 calories worth of food. What can you do for me?”
The food nazis don’t really care what you eat, they only care if you don’t do what they say...it’s all about power.
I was at a gathering around the apartment pool last year chatting with a couple of guys. The conversation turned to Obama and politics. One of the guys said, "But isn't the idea of 'From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs' simply beautiful? Isn't that a wonderful idea?" He then said he was aware that Communism had never worked and he knew about the millions that were murdered under it, but still, wasn't it a beautiful idea. He was almost orgasmic to a point that would shame Chris Mathews.
I asked him how that idea was superior to the Biblical, Treat others as you would like them to treat you. He just ignored that and walked off.
The point is that reason does not work with most liberals and to try is a waste of time. They are lost in a fantasy land and when someone doesn't embrace their vision, if they get the power they will kill or imprison them.
I called an acquaintance a useful idiot one time and he was highly insulted that I called him an idiot. He had no idea about the origin of that label.
Yeah. [Sigh.] It doesn't even work with my own middle son, although the older he gets the smarter he seems to be getting. He is surrounded by "artsy" types at all times so getting through to him is tough.
But it never hurts to try. Sometimes it's even fun. You got a good story out of it... ;0)
