The Federal Government now owes 100% of GDP
Rational Public Radio ^ | 2/14/11 | Scott Connery

We all know that our country has a debt problem. Every year, the federal government spends vastly more than it takes in.

This year, we are expecting to add over 1.5 trillion dollars of new debt to the books. We've done that for several years now, ever since president Bush started his bail-out mania.

Environmentalists and Democrats like to use the word "sustainable" often. They say our pollution, oil usage, and agriculture are "un-sustainable". Whether they are right or not is the subject for another article.

This is an historic achievement that should be honored with a big purple plaque for the Congress and White House that looks like the face of a clown.

Soon to be over 100%. But, hey, Obama is a person of color, so everything is A-OK.

Hey, most people who have a mortgage owe more than they make in a year. What’s the big deal. ;)

Starve the beast: De-Fund.

Doing my part to starve the beast with every passing day. I hope you are, too. As for defunding happening on the Congressional level it seems pretty clear to me that they didn't get the message last November......

this means that we, American citizens, owe that debt since the government has no money except the money taken from citizens. There is something very strange about a system that lets someone run up huge debts on someone else’s credit card and get away with it... the “government” is an entity, not a responsible person. there was a time when people were more versed and trusted in absolutes, such as Honor, Faith, Country, Duty, Truth, Right........ but then, Madalyn O’Hare came in and took prayer out of school... since then, no Pledge of Allegiance, no standing up for the Flag, no Lord’s Prayer... only muslim chants are allowed.... and Lies are the normal way of doing business beginning with the obamanation and his..... spouse....

The big deal is that most people don’t have a private Federal Reserve that will print up money for them when they spend their incomes on other stuff...

And it's only the beginning, my FRiend. Even the most agressive republican in congress won't propose actually balancing the budget.

It's like a couple on one of those tv shows that earn $100,000 a year and spend $150,000 a year. When the bills start to come due the wife starts getting monthly pedicures instead of weekly and the husband puts off buying new golf clubs.

Problem solved.

This is not quite right. They can't take any more from the citizens (hence, the Bush Tax Cuts were extended) so, they just print new money out of this air and call it, sound fiscal policy under QE II Fed action.

>>don’t have a private Federal Reserve that will print up money for them<<

Yeah, but all that gets you is inflation. ;)

Its not inflation in the normal sense. It becomes currency collapse. Imagine a morning when your credit cards don’t work, you can’t get money out of an ATM and you don’t have any cash on hand. Panic ensues as the money becomes worthless. Not inflation. Currency collapse.
