Netflix (NFLX) shares shot up nearly 7% to 246 in early afternoon trading Monday after Qualcomm (QCOM) said some Android tablets and smart phones will be able to stream Netflix movies and TV shows.

Also Monday, an analyst at Caris raised its price target on Netflix to $316 from $224.

On Friday, Nielsen reported that Netflix became the first paid online video site to hit the top 10 list of online traffic visitors. Netflix boasted 7.394 million unique online visitors in January, up 15.6% vs. December. Google’s (GOOG) YouTube led with 112.764 million, with Facebook at 32.328 million.

Theatre-like experience and smartphone don’t belong in the same sentence. Expect new laws banning the watching of movies while driving.

We love our Netflix, but I don’t think I’d like trying to watch a movie on a little Smartphone screen. An iPad, maybe, but it’s still awful small!

I watch YouTube all the time on mine.
It’s great when you’re on the go.

I’ve never used it. Don’t have a Wii, or other device so why should I bother? I can get the same movies locally for a buck (if I want them...so far maybe 3 movies rented this past year).

You’d be surprised. I spent all morning in a hospital waiting room, and I was glad I had a movie on my phone to watch. It’s better than picking up the May 1987 edition of Field and Stream.

Pity me. I only bought 100 shares. (At less than 50/per). I love Netflix. I can add blu ray movies to my queue when they are still in the theater. (They come in when they are out on DVD). I can watch on every computer, and two tvs at the same time. I can take my ‘puter to a hotel and hook it up to the hotel tv and watch netflix. (Saves over ordering a hotel movie.) And now I can watch on my Droid. Life is sweet with netflix.

Netflix rocks! Somehow, they get my movies the day after I mail them and I get my movies the day after they mail them to me.

The streaming function is outstanding. The only drawback is that they don’t seem to have anywhere near the titles that’s available on DVD, but expect that will change.

I agree. What’s the point? I mean, unless I’m marooned at the airport for two days, with nothing to read, I can’t imagined wasting my time watching a movie on a Droid.

You must have a Distribution center close to you.

That started happening with our discs, and I was driving over to Worcester (we're next door to the city) one day, and realized that there was a Distribution center just off of the highway! No wonder there was a quick turn around!

My crabby remark is that computer and internet pioneers would be mortified to see how computers don’t increase human ability and knowledge. But instead serve to bounce MP3s and movies over the internet and to obsess on facebook

Obviously you only use the internet to post baseless thoughts.
