Somebody should check the water Gunter Oettinger is drinking because it must contain something that restores common sense in critically important public policy discussions.
Oettinger is the European Union's energy commissioner and, according to Britain's Guardian newspaper, he has dashed hopes of Big Green environmentalists worldwide with these words: "If we go alone to 30 percent, you will only have a faster process of deindustrialisation in Europe. I think we need industry in Europe, we need industry in the U.K., and industry means CO2 emissions."
He was referring to proposals that the EU increase its current carbon monoxide emissions reduction goal from 20 percent to 30 percent.
Oettinger predicted that what is left of European industry would flee the continent and move to Asia if that happens. The net result would be loss of jobs and economic vitality in Europe and quite possibly even more emissions because Asian countries will not impose such draconian reductions on industry.

You understand that, and I understand that but the greenies just see the word CARBON and that is the onliest (emphasis on .lie.) thing what matters!
In fact if those non-thinkers ever found out that diamonds are made of carbon, deBeers would go out of business.
At equilibrium in normal atmosphere, carbon monoxide is unstable and will react with O2 in air to form carbon dioxide eventually.
Hence any CO emissions are ultimately C02 emissions.
Though it is possible that it is merely a typo in the article.

Gunter is triangulating to neutralize the opposition to ANY regulation of CO2. There should be none, since AGW is in itself a political hoax.
How do you walk back a decades old hoax that has cost you billions without looking like a blithering fool.
That's the challenge facing the MSM and the dominant liberal establishment. They've been had big time and they know it.
Gunter Oettinger is German and Germans are more practical and have a booming manufacturing sector that does very well on exporting. I blame the AngloSpere more for the Global Warming hoax. The AngloSphere is the epicenter. This would be England and America that has been funding these taxpayer supported, money grubbing, spaced out “scientists”.
Wiping out your own country’s industry to try in vain to reduce the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere is nuts, whether German or Anglo. The Chinese know this, so does India. This concept of shooting ourselves in the foot when the world already sees that global warming is not happening and in fact would be more desirable than global cooling (which is happening) has got to stop somewhere.
Eventually, we can all hope that someone is listening when the little child says, “Mom, the Emperor has no clothes”.
It would be interesting if some government, somewhere passed a law that said that biofuels could not be made from FOOD!! Maybe then, they’d look into the use of switchgrass, kudzu, whatever, just not a substance that much of the world depends on for their sustenance. It is a great injustice when the price goes so high that very poor people can’t buy it, just so elites in the Western Hemisphere can feel pious about their gasoline consumption.
Global Warming on Free Republic
Unfortunately, California doesn't show any ability to understand and is charging full speed over the cliff. I hope the rest of us don't end up paying for their suicide.
Maybe it's time that prolifers pointed out to them that banning abortion would be a way to sequester more carbon.
