After about a month in control of the House of Representatives, Republicans haven't managed to undo as many deeds of their Democratic predecessors as they'd like. They couldn't get rid of "Obamacare," and they haven't made much headway in slashing the president's $4-trillion budget. But the GOP has succeeded in short order in one critically important venture: getting rid of the "compostable" cornstarch-based knives, forks and spoons that were a universally and bipartisanly hated feature of the House cafeteria operation.
The tableware, the color of mucus and as bendable as a pocket watch in a Salvador Dali painting (and thus unable to pierce any foodstuff firmer than the innards of Brie cheese), was the most visible manifestation of recently deposed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's Green the Capitol initiative. That was her carbon-cutting effort to use the food-service and other House operations to fight global warming and a host of other perceived environmental, health and social ills. During the lunchtime rush, you could observe dozens of staffers struggling to stab lettuce leaves and poultry pieces with fork tines that appeared to be double-jointed as well as dull.
The years from 2006 through 2010, starting with the Democratic takeover of the House and ending with the party's rout after two years of Barack Obama's presidency, were four years of an effort by a know-it-all liberal elite to impose sweeping and extreme social and fiscal measures on a centrist-to-right public: four years of turkey escabeche, so to speak.
Now, with a GOP House and divided government, there seems to be a return to normalcy, and it's beginning with the promise of knives and forks that work.

I hate to imagine where they might stick one.....
The LATImes whistling past the graveyard...
I see Andy Dick playing the part.
Charlotte has a job only by the Grace of God. Her paper is not eternal
must be that I’ve not had coffee yet...but that “silverware” sounds hilarious! I want to see it in action now...
Getting great mental pictures.

Yes, good to see the ‘important’ stuff is being taken care of.
Next they will attack the toilet paper situation that was instituted by Cheryl Crowe?
Charlotte, honey, you speak too soon. Give it some time.
They did pass a bill to kill Obamacare, but the democrat-controlled Senate killed it. Frankly, I was plesantly surprised they had the 'nads to do so. Now they're going to unfund it. Be patient.
I do see your point about the stupid plastic-ware. But just keep in mind that that stupidity, codified into laws hither and yon across the fruited plain, will take some time to repeal, such was the zeal of the democrats to nanny-state us.
We are indeed done if this cannot be reversed, but there is so much to do. If you and your readers really care about helping, then pull the Republican switch across the board come November of 2012!
Here is a better idea....be just like your constituents...get rid of the high dollar cafeteria, and brown bag it to work, just like your constituents...save the country a few buck too....oh and that new office furniture, just forget about that too...how many of your constituents get to order brand new office furniture when they are hired?????
Take a minute and look at this:

The only way to accomplish anything in 30 days is for the Federal Government to completely collapse. And then, what would be the headlines?
It is extremely easy to use poor workmanship to produce a poorly built building. It is extremely difficult to take down that same building without damaging its neighbors or creating other problems.
If you want to avoid unintended consequences when dismantling legislation you will have to move slowly. Proof of statement - look at how many flaws, intention, unintentional, and illegal are contained in ObamaCare, the object of this exercise.
(Not to worry though. The green nazis found "sporks" as the
way to save their failed religion.)
Better yet, why not just mandate prison loaf as the only food stuff
available? No cutlery or plates needed. Just a "single square of paper".
Why do I get the feeling that Pelosi rarely partook of her over
priced mandated culinary offerings and subjected herself
to the greenie feel-good propaganda?
Did the USAF offer the same environment to her and her family on
the taxpayer abusing plane rides?
Did the Senate Dining Rooms also go green?
It is unlikely that Kerry or Pelosi ever used plastic flatware.
Not sure of the protocol but I think the valet lays the silver out for the lackey to setup?
Has he finally formally proposed his budget or is that beast finally coming this week? They voted to appeal Obamacare successfully in the House. Since that failed in the Senate, they can try defunding. It's been just over 30 days which, time wise, is nothing to gov't.
Even new presidents set "first 100 days" for their agenda.
