Original title: Obama 'deserves respect' says Oprah Winfrey as she blasts critics of the President in a television interview
------------------------
The first lady of television has called on critics of President Obama to show 'some level of respect' - even if they weren't in support of his policies.
Speaking on a special edition of Morning Joe today, Oprah Winfrey said the presidency is a position that 'holds a sense of authority and governance over us all'. The chat show host, who also talked about her new network OWN and the end of her long-running show, has been extremely vocal about her support for the president and made many campaign appearances during his race to the White House.
Morning Joe host, Joe Scarborough, recalled the first time Oprah appeared at a campaign event with Barack and Michelle Obama, in South Carolina. He said it felt as though he was watching 'just three leaders' instead of three African American leaders before quizzing her on what she thought of the administration now. 'I have no issues with the Obama administration,' she said.

To Oprah, Martin Luther King Jr. was just another Republican.
That kind of respect?
What has he ever done deserving of respect? Steal nominations and elections?
When he does something worthy of respect, if he ever does, then we can talk. Until then, Oprah can go tend to her own business.
“Respect is earned” — you guys are so old-fashioned. It certainly isn’t earned in the hallowed halls of Affirmative Action and feel-good self-esteem programs where “everybody is a winner and special.” Get with the program, you two!
This _resident is deserving of nothing more than scorn. He has worked diligently to destroy the Constitution and this great nation. His socialist pogroms have done much more harm than any smattering of good. He has advanced the socialism born of the New Deal, and remains totally unapologetic.
No, Ms Winfrey, I’ll not give him any respect. He’s not earned my respect.
Not over me. The President, along with all aspects of governement serve me and each other citizen. Their service is defined and restricted by the Constitution which they serve under and which they take an oath to uphold and protect. It is only through my consent and the consent of my fellow citizens that their services are granted any level of authorities.
No man governs over me. I am equal to everyone else regardless of their position.
Bush got bashed by the media 24/7. Now they’ve got what they think they wanted, but surely they can see that there are many Americans who are disgusted with this guy. This business of bowing and scraping to Muslims and Muslim royalty and then giving our allies the old blow off is just about more than we can stand. It’s humiliating; it’s the Marxism, Oprah. It’s the Marxism and the ARROGANCE.
Ok, she didnt really say that, but Im not an Oprah fan so youll forgive me for spinning the title. Oprah spent $40 million on the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa. She hand picked 152 students from among the 3,500 applications she received. When asked why she didnt build a big school in the US for the kids that need help at home, she said that they wanted material stuff instead so screw em.
But the talk show queen is ticked that people arent appreciating her generosity, and says Americans would just waste a golden opportunity to get a good education at her expense. I became so frustrated with visiting inner-city schools [in the U.S.], she tells Newsweek. If you ask the kids what they want or need, they will say an iPod or some sneakers. In South Africa, they dont ask for money or toys. They ask for uniforms so they can go to school. But that didnt stop Oprah from including a yoga studio and beauty salon in the plush girls school.
Oh Oprah do you mean the same kind of respect that he showed to the Tea Partiers...
Well, if she had EVER said something similar while George W. Bush was President, I MIGHT consider her opinion as valid; but she didn’t, so I won’t.
All Americans should respect the Constitutionally elected President of the United States.
BUT since obama was never legally elected due to being ineligible( not a Natural Born Citizen) he is not nor ever can be the President of the United States.
HE deserves NO respect!!!!
He is to be respected as a malefactor.. an enemy of the people of the United States... and a shill to other malefactions infecting this Republic.. He is a political parasite a turncoat...
noprah misspoke. What she meant to say was that nobama is an equal-opportunity loser who thrives on white-guilt, just like she has done. Just a no-talent putz commenting on a no-skills loser. (Please note my “new tone”)
go to H-e-l-l Oppie.....you, who are only where you're at because you fit the right color needed for the time slot....
oink..oink
Oprah should keep quiet and be grateful that compared to Michelle, she is beginning to look ‘thin’.
No, he does not deserve any respect. My respect has to be earned. obama has not earned it, quite the opposite in fact. I find him to be a loathsome big-government socialist with repulsive fascist leanings. He is a liberty-stealing, future jeopardizing, over-spending {expletive}.
Speaking on a special edition of Morning Joe today, Oprah Winfrey said the presidency is a position that 'holds a sense of authority and governance over us all'.
No he doesn't. The only sense I get from him is a skin-crawling distrust of an usurper and oppressive occupier of the White House.
i needed a good laugh - thank you
And she is paying for that adolation too..ratings of her show..dismal. Ratings of her new network...even more dismal. I cant express how fast I run to change the channel if either her or her Ozerohero is on it.
Shut up Doprah. Really! Just shut the **** up!
I heard that elsewhere. If that is true, that can be a strong indication that even the lefties are tired of this mess. Of course, this is based on the premise that her viewership was predominantly rats.
Oprah was a media creation; she did well, with a LOT of help.
