The trailer for Atlas Shrugged Part 1 has finally been released!
The only explicit threat comes from Ellis Wyatt to Dagny about rail service to his wells in Colorado. He threatens to take her down if she can’t provide service.
Or maybe it's one of those movies where all the good scenes are in the previews.
Guess I'll have to see it to find out.
Probably could be made into a good series like a “24”.
I agree - if it’s in the present, keep it general w/o a year. Very interesting.
This one almost didn't make it through either:
------------------------------------------
Perhaps scarily, the film version set for this spring almost wasnt. Having already invested millions in the film rights to Shrugged, not to mention investment in various script adaptations (one studio version had international starlet Angelina Jolie attached as Dagny Taggart), Aglialoro, with time running out on his option, considered letting his rights lapse absent a proper studio production deal.
Luckily, intervention of the good kind changed Aglialoros mind in the form of his wife, Joan Carter. As Aglialoro relayed to me, Carter told him that It will haunt you for the rest of your life if you dont make Atlas Shrugged. Energized by his wifes sound advice, Aglialoro courageously chose to produce the film himself, outside the traditional studio system. Thank goodness.

This is from a link of a Forbes story about the producer:

There is a lot of good stuff at the website for the movie:

She’s great. Very believable in all of her roles.
“The production value in the trailer looks pretty good.”
Production value can be pretty good in TV movies, too. Especially the ones on HBO, for instance. Computers have allowed filmmakers to do glossy and professional on the cheap. They’ve also sullied the medium aesthetically, in my opinion, but that’s a different matter.

It was — but the main thing is it’s a long book, with a lot of substance. I thought that it would be better as a HBO miniseries, than as a movie. I’m relieved that it will at least be a trilogy. The material requires that much time, to do it justice.
If Dagny says that to her brother Jim, then there’s no problem. He richly deserves being destroyed.
This is exactly what and why Sebastian Junger and Tim Hetherington did with their war movie RESTREPO - and with their own money.
It won the top prize at SUNDANCE - Grand Jury Award.
It was then picked up - both theater and broadcst rights - by Nat Geo...
It was then released in limited theaters this summer - to rave reviews. It was then released on Nt Geo - in Nov...with such a large viewership, that it was reshown and THEN - after it was listed on the ‘shortlist’ for an Oscar, reshown again.
It’s now out everywhere on DVD -
and NOW look: It’s up for the Oscar.
also click past the first screen to get a glimpse of the movie and trailer.
And so, you see, great things can come of remaining true and letting it’s truth rise to the sky.
1:10 = Bawny Fwank
1:20 = Fat Al Bore
LOL!. Trivia: Fat Al is played by Graham Beckel, a fine character actor and brother of Bob Beckel of FoxNews. Graham is a conservative.
I agree. The trailer doesn’t look too bad. I might rent it when it comes out in dvd.
I doubt it will make anywhere near my rural area - I'll have to travel for this one!
there are really only about 2 theaters in my state that show the ‘limiteds’
I believe that's intentional - will is a good sign
And Quark, from Star Trek/Deep Space 9!

From the first link above:
A lot of people are wondering whether the Atlas Shrugged movie will be in a theater near them. If you are wondering the same thing, here is your answer.
Below is an exchange from the movies Facebook page:
Hassan Yusuf: Will this be in limited theaters or can I watch it at any theater when it comes out?
Brian Patrick OToole: It will be a limited release as we are self-distributing. If you want the film in a theater near you, please forward me any information (theater managers name/number) and I will place a call. Thanks for posting!
Elevated MOW at best, is right. Trailer looks horrible... No Stars... This will pass quickly. Unfortunately...
Which it should be - Rand was writing "on the Wall" for us in the future (from 1959) - and that would be us today.
I could see it happening, year by year, but never could I have seen that things would get to the point it is today,
This is THE TIME for it to come out - may be our last chance to stop the 'train wreck'
