World’s Largest Group Hug
Saturday, February 12th at 7:00pm
Meet at the front entrance to Compuware
Inside Detroit, a nonprofit whose mission is to promote Detroit as a preferred destination to live, work and play is leading the charge to attempt to set the Guinness World Record for the Largest Group Hug right here in Detroit.
Inside Detroit wants to get Detroiters and Detroiters-at-heart involved now to bolster excitement for, and participation in, the attempt by selling buttons that say “I Hug Strangers in the D”. Buttons are only $1 and are available at the Inside Detroit Welcome Center located at 1253 Woodward (one block from Campus Martius Park).
The record-breaking hug attempt will be made Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. during Detroit’s annual Winter Blast Festival. Supporters of Detroit will be asked to gather around Campus Martius Park in an attempt to break the record set in Transylvania in 2009 for the most hugs at one time. More than 10,000 people will need to “hug” Detroit to take the record.

Education level is almost the sixth grade. Not a good place to live.
They are related. The book had its origins in the desire of a Guinness executive to have a resource to settle pub disputes over what was the most, fastest, biggest, etc., and was given away as a marketing gimmick by the brewery.
