JOHANNESBURG Park rangers in South Africa are cracking down, hard and with lethal force, on rhinoceros poaching. Nine alleged poachers have already been killed this year by rangers, twice as many as in all of 2010.
The sharp increase in the number of poacher deaths has gone hand-in-hand with an uptick in the number of killings by poachers of rhinos for their horns, which fetch top dollar in Asia where they're prized for their purported medicinal powers.

Wonder what they sell the hunting permits for poachers for? I may want to bag a couple on my next trip to Zimbabwe.

Worth every penny or few pennies. I wanted to buy the permits so I wouldn't be caught poaching poachers.
We could use some of those park rangers on our southern border!

Last year they only killed 4.5 poachers!
I hope that teaches others to choose a different way to cook their eggs from now on.
When I was working in that neck of the woods, “poachers” were known as “unofficial wildlife management officers without portfolios.”
